I spotted this bumble bee dead in the street but in great shape except his wings. I thought he might come in handy and he cooperated very well.
This is cropped right in, I am trying various lenses on the new (old) camera. The detail resolution on full frame is remarkable.....
On sand dune in Jersey.
Spent a happy hour or so watching this species mating and the females digging into loose sand to lay eggs ... and best of all a couple of kids came past and after asking me what i was photoing i spent a good while with them looking for and talking all about insects and it took me back to when i used to take kids on nature walks/talks ... their enthusiasm was amazing and made me feel there was hope in the next generation again!! They wont read this but thanks to them for being so cool :)
Looking at it now it reminds me more of a jumping Bee, he was mid flight !! Taken over the blue Cornflowers in my garden a short while ago whilst the sun is shining ! just a light breeze ( always is on my back garden, backing onto fields ) thus the movement of the petals.

... this is how I would look, at least on one side. I was checking the bees yesterday and missed one that was probably sitting on my suit. She took revenge (the weather was too cold, they were in a bad mood), and stung me on the cheek. I'm off to the NHS walk-in centre because it's probably infected.

Today we walked 5km up and over Mt. Tolmie. While I hiked up the Northwest Col from Kingsberry Crescent, the wife walked Glastonbury and we met at the top. A wise choice on her part. This was my first attempt using this unmarked, single-track trail. At about the halfway point I took a game trail which led to a dead-end. After regaining the maintrail it was straight up the steep, bare rocks to the peak. Next time will be better.
With my GoPro camera and handheld GPS on it makes it easier to see where my wrong turn was made. My GPS track is shown on Google.earth after using GPSVisualizer's free site.

Playing around with my old Nikon D200 have some lavender growing wild in the front garden with Bee's galour zipping about so dusted my old trusy macro lens off and snapped some hand held shots. Lens used Sigma 105mm f2.8d DG stunning lens forgot just how sharp this lens can be. Shots straight out the camera slight contrast and saturation tweak that's it. This is my favourite from the set.
