I put the first weft thread through the shed, leaving out a couple inches. Then I brought up the counter shed by moving my tongue depressor sword beater from the far end of the loom to the heddle bar. I then used my hands and the sword beater to seperate the shed and counter shed as much as possible so that the counter shed was on top on the close side of the heddle bar.

Fares holding two Tutim. Fares' parents died when he was 1. They were beduins. Since then he has been raised by a nun who lives in a Monastery in "Ein Karem". It is a nice little city in the mountains near Jerusalem. He was a wonderful person and we had a lot of fun even though there was a slight language barrier. I am learning hebrew and we communicated as well as we could. We got along very well.
