I took a very bumpy ride on a lame camel at the Beduin Tents. I named her Petunia, but Sasha re-named her Fucking-Gimp.

En medio de una tremenda llanura desértica se levanta este castillo de dos plantas. Sus estrechas ventanas probablemente sivieran para dejar entrar el aire y luz en lugar de para disparar flechas, y aunque parece un caravasar, no estaba situado en ninguna ruta comercial importante. Probablemente era un lugr de encuentro entre los gobernantes omeyas y los beduinos locales.
Una tenda beduina.
Una tenda fittizia, perchè il vero vivere dei beduini è all'interno di baraccopoli fatte di plastica, ferro, immondizia. Abbiamo bevuto il loro te' ed ascoltato le loro storie. Ciò che per loro è sacro, i loro matrimoni, le loro usanze.
Purtroppo però l'influenza del turismo ha colpito anche loro. I bambini dovrebbero andare a scuola, ma sono invece lì, vicino alle loro tende, che rincorrono i turisti in cerca di soldi, cibo, acqua. Si assiste a delle scene che nessuno vorrebbe mai vedere: bambini che si picchiano, si prendono a calci per un pezzo di pane; bambini che rincorrono le jeep in mezzo al deserto in cerca di soldi, mangiare.
Non è così che dovrebbero andare le cose....

They talked to us about their history, their marriages, their traditions. Unfortunately their kids don't go to school (even if they should), because tourism is more convenient. They ask for money, food, water, and they hit each other just for a piece of bread.
Things shouldn't be in this way...
