So yesterday I was exploring the outskirts of Lewes and it's beautiful countryside with my camera and tripod and stumbled across this sort of hole in the ground aparently it used to be some sort of quarry but this must of been like 10-20 or even more years ago, because somehow plants, trees and animals have somehow popped up and survived living here, It was basically a hole in the landscape, if you wanna find it and live in Brighton, East Sussex or nearby etc, it's basically near the A27 motor way at the back end of Lewes and the highstreet, I'll geotag it or something... it's worth checking it out!

It felt a desert it was so hot there there was definitely a mini ecosystem here coz as soon as I left the 'pit'/ quarry it felt cooler. It was quite dusty and tough to find but yeah it was cool beaware that you will probably need to clean your equipment of dust and I wouldn't really recommend changing lenses exposing sensors, memory cards etc coz the dust can be quite fine, damaging and hard to notice, so be warned!

I made a HDR out of the original and voila! Gave it a bit more color especially to the lovely blue sky and white clouds.

Please you gotta view on black!

Native Remedies is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating a portion of their proceeds to support breast cancer research.

Stuck to box by park in Chinatown on Kearny.

While I was taking this photo, a drunk blonde with ridiculous fake eyelashes stumbled into me asking for help.

She was so drunk she was having trouble holding her open purse and wanted help finding her red cell phone. Since I couldn't think of any way this was a scam, I decided to play the good Samaritan and helped her dig through her purse, which only seemed to have make-up and a bra.

No wallet, either.

She was full of self-pity and apologized for being drunk but she said she just found out she was pregnant.

"I'm going to have twins... there are twins in my belly!" she sobbed.

"If you're pregnant, you probably shouldn't be drinking," I said.

"I know, but it just made me so sad!"

So once she realizes she doesn't have her wallet, she thinks maybe she should go back to work and look for it, but she can't get up off the steps.

So she asks me for help and I figure, why not, I'm not in a hurry. I was just on my way to meet a friend at a cafe. So I help her up, hook an arm in hers to keep her upright, and we walk along Kearny towards North Beach. She says she works a few blocks away, is grateful God sent me to help her, but she's going to have twins and she can't afford them. There are twins in her belly!

See, she took a pregnancy test, right? And it showed two stripes. Two! So she's going to have twins.

"I really don't think that's how they work," I say, stopping her from lurching out into traffic to cross where there's no crosswalk.

"No," she says, "I called the hospital and talked to a nurse. I told her about the test and how it showed two lines and she said it probably meant I was having twins."

"You should actually go to a hospital, though," I said. "And hold on. Wait for the crossing signal. That cab would have run us over."

During the walk, I found out that she had a boyfriend, a 7-year old son, her boyfriend had a kid, she was in a nursing program with only three months to go to complete it… never did get her name.

Eventually, with a fair amount of stumbling, we walked past the Hustler strip club, up a hill, turned a corner, and she says that she works at a place called Heaven. It's some sort of adult business. I just got a glance at the sign as she headed up some steep steps, saying I should pretend to be her brother so there wouldn't be a problem. A big guy at the top of the stairs, not looking too happy to see her again, tells her she left nothing behind. She says again that she can't find her wallet and is allowed past him to look, so I hung out in the lobby as they went in the back.

The lobby had some great Varga prints up on the wall, some comfortable looking couches set up next to a simple looking pole of the variety that dancers make use of, and a curved bar covered with the cover sleeves of a variety of porn films.

From the back, I heard the high tones of the drunken girl, and a guy's voice saying "I don't want to talk to you again until you sober up." Then a second guy's voice, very angry, saying he's closing up an office, then cursing and slamming a door. So no one was particularly happy to see their colleague back.

I waited a few minutes to see if they were going to promptly kick her out again, and when it didn't happen, I left. Made it to the café 10 minutes ahead of my friend too.

I am a student at NIU. Feb. 14, 2008 an unthinkable act took place taking the lives of 5 students. Without warning a former student without reason, if there ever could be one, fired into an auditorium filled with students before taking his own life.

We at NIU are deeply sad and confused as to how and why this would happen, and on Valentine's Day of all days. I am trying to make sense of it all.

I have learned through this whole experience the power of love, family, and friends. The power of compassion and the strength of the human will to do good and help others. I have learned once again that life is all too short and precious to be tied up in small trivial things. Every day is a gift and it should be used to its full advantage.

I have watched our small community of DeKalb come together to support one another and help those suffering. I am proud to be a Huskie at NIU and so thankful for the love and support I have received. Words cannot express the sadness and the gratitude we all are feeling.

"Today we must grieve, and tomorrow we must go forth. We must remember to never let the darkness take away our light. We will, we must, overcome."

We walked for the cure this weekend....

We walked for my mom.... (a survivor)

My cancer memory goes back to when I was like 10 years old....

It was one of those moments when I was closest to my mother....

She was trying to explain how she was apprehensive about chemo....

In grand ten year old wisdom I told my mother that if its going to help her get better....

Why worry about it.... Just do it

Just grin and bear the treatment and get better.....

As a 10 year old it was like cough medicine to a cold.... (i didn't know any better)

She says to this day it was one of those moments that helped her through the whole breast cancer experience....

Every year I think of that moment when breast cancer awareness month comes around....

i didn't do a breast shot... but I did do pink

BE-AWARE

Be careful with the mighty Corona

If you are reading what is written in these article clips.... you are being aware and thinking to become a nation.

Let's get the word out and remind all our family and friends to get our checkups and mammograms. Early detection is the BEST prevention.

Cliché alert. 😁 Sometimes I really do pause and breath it all in. Life is hectic and I easily get lost in my tasks and projects I have in the works. In fact, my friends can attest to the latter two as I'm sure they're over hearing me talk about my new projects. AKA, I always have a new one. When we stop with the everyday routines and ongoing to do lists, we realize we're in the middle of living our lives. Because our lives aren't just after the tasks are done, nor when you launch something big. It's also the middle parts. So take a breather and go have a mini-adventure for an hour - even if it's just listening to a podcast (hint, hint), or exploring your neighborhood. Me? I'm catching up with a friend today, to hear all about his world.

“One year after the loss of five wonderful people, we have taken inspiration from stories of their lives and the strength of their characters. Twelve months after an unspeakable tragedy, we are much closer as a campus community – much more focused on each other. Random acts of kindness abound at a university where the only answer to hate is love.” ~NIU President J. Peters

Victory for BCN Cottage 65.

Fred Grove has won an amazing victory by forcing B'ham City Council to withdraw the Compulsory Purchase Order on his canalside cottage 34 Belmont Row, otherwise known as BCN cottage 65. Fred had lived in the cottage for 40yrs and was threatened by eviction even though there were no plans to demolish it. AWM and the Council who are planning to redevelop the area argued that the noise and dust of development work simply meant that it was "in his own best interests" to leave. Now a victory has been achieved, thanks to Fred's solicitor, who has persuaded the council to remove the CPO before the matter was due to be discussed at a public enquiry.

34 Belmont Row was indeed, in 1891, a canal toll collector's cottage. More recently in about 2007 BCC slapped a compulsory purchase order on the property as the surrounds were being redeveloped & it was argued that it was, therefore, in Fred Grove's interest to surender the property. Fortunately the cpo was contested successfully.

who grew up to have breast cancer.

The girl on the right is my step mom at age 15.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer about 8 years ago. As a result she underwent the chemo, the hair loss and ended up having a double mastectomy. The years went by and it seemed that she had beaten the cancer.

Three years ago, one week before Christmas, she collapsed, was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a softball. The cancer had metastasized. The tumor was removed almost immediately but the doctors said that her chances for survival were not good.

It has been almost three years now since the tumor and almost a decade since the cancer and she is beating all of the odds and still going strong. She is the toughest person I know.

October is breast cancer awareness month. Not everyone gets to have the happy ending that my step mom has had so far. Nearly all of us have been touched in some way by this cancer either through someone we know and care about or some of you have beaten it or are fighting it yourself.

Please, do your self exams, get your mammogram and let's hope that this cancer can be cured for the future of the 15 year olds of today.
