The badlands of South Dakota and North Dakota are generally considered to be very harsh and barren places...hence the name "badlands". But the adjective I prefer to use to describe the badlands is beautiful. Layers of prairie grasses and rugged, colorful geologic formations combine for some of the most beautiful scenery I know of. Throw in some bighorn sheep, bison, elk and wild horses (elk and wild horses only in ND), and you have some truly special places. This image was taken in Badlands National Park, South Dakota. Pretty good in Large View.

Interesting fact: The Black Redstart is also known as Black Redtail. It was formerly considered a Thrush, but is now classified as an Old World Flycatcher. There are less than 100 breeding pairs in UK.

Espero Que Gostem

sometimes they remind me of a dog, they wag their tails like one
the sun makes them glow, like the soul of its shine
jumping around the field like little kids, play time is always in.

This rose's outer petals are really showing its age. The middle is still just as beautiful though. For me, this supports the view that 'beauty comes from within'. :)
