I love the Animation Academy at DCA, especially the main foyer and this room of the Sorcerer's Workshop. The light changes as the rose dies and revives is gorgeous and the quiz is a bit of fun too.
Photomatix has decided it doesn't like me so this was my first try at Photoshop's HDR ... thing. Which I liked but the presets looked awful compared to the Photomatix ones, so I had to play round with it a bit. Constructive criticism is very welcome!

The beast....my beast! She hopped and skipped like a small kangaroo amongst the bells. Not a good idea to take a dog if you're hoping to get some deer shots. I never take her if this is my aim!
The Beast is without doubt one of the most famous custom cars of the 1970s. The original Beast resembled a Mk. I Capri with a long bonnet and Rolls-Royce grille but that was sadly destroyed in a fire so the builder, John Dodd of Epsom, set about creating a successor that bore more of a resemblance to a Scimitar GTE.
Dodd created the unique body and chassis and fitted a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 aero engine, hence why he also fitted a Rolls-Royce grille.
The story goes that the Beast was driving along the German autobahn when she overtook a Porsche driver. The Porsche driver proceeded to ring Rolls-Royce to request their new model, although Dodd later revealed that he made the call to amuse himself. Rolls-Royce, lacking a sense of humour, took offence and took Dodd to court over the use of their grille, which he was forced to remove. She now sports a more plain grille surround and Dodd's initals cover the radiator.
The car has been driven at 185m.p.h. and once held the record for the most powerful road car. She now resides in Spain but returned to Britain in June to collect her final tax disc, and attended June's cruise as well as Dragstalgia at Santa Pod and July's Krispy Kreme meet in New Malden.

This is giant hogweed, a plant that grows along the road verges in Cheshire. Considered an invasive weed by some as it is not native to the British Isles, but to me it is beautiful and statuesque. It is also a good wildlife plant much loved by insects. The photo shows the attractive flower heads and the equally attractive seeds.
The last few photos I've posted were from "Beast of a Feast," an annual fundraising event at Elmwood Park Zoo.
The "feast" comes through samples offered by local restaurants, bakeries, and other food establishments. Each business sets up a booth. Some cook on the premises, while others bring their finished products to the zoo, ready to hand out.
Each guest purchases a ticket, and in return, may have unlimited samples. At least while the food supplies last!
The zoo also uses "Beast" as an opportunity for its education staff to shine. There are many chats about many species, as well as information about animal conservation.
I have more "Beast of a Feast" photos to post as Janice and I finish packing to move. Then, I'll be off the grid for a few days . . . until we get wifi in the new digs. Moving day will be Tuesday.
The Beast is having motivation issues. He can't be bothered to answer another text about the world ending.
Some better pictures of my Hyper Beast I made yesterday. The back is by far my favorite part! Thanks for looking.
Small beetles, only a mm or two. Gotten from sweeping on the Beltsville Agriculture maglev Trainyard site. So many of these small species. Just documenting the diversity of the area in case it disappears under concrete. Photos by Jade Louis ~~~~~~~~~~{{{{{{0}}}}}}~~~~~~~~~~

We Are Made One with What We Touch and See
We are resolved into the supreme air,
We are made one with what we touch and see,
With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,
With our young lives each spring impassioned tree
Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range
The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.

Despite being a slight Photoshop nightmare, I thought this shot was worth the effort. We were waiting in the queue for Dumbo (which surprisingly after multiple visits Disneyland, Disney World, and Hong Kong Disneyland, this was the first time I have ever ridden Dumbo!) when I looked up and saw a beautiful sky and perfect lighting on the new Beast Castle that is under construction.
Unfortunately, I also saw lots of scaffolding and support beams... ugh!!! Photoshop to the rescue again...

Totally amazing light-sound-laser show with this great bull. An awesome experience!
