Fantastic walk up Blencathra, via Sharp edge, even though the top half of the mountain remained in the clouds most of the day, the views were stunning.

This photo is part of my "Old Mill" series. There is a hole in the ceiling and so if the sky is cloudless and the sun is high, it creates this beam that travels across the open area. On this day the sun was very bright so the spot light on the floor was very illuminating in this dark space.

I'd like to thank William McIntosh for the inspiration behind this shot. If you don't follow McIntosh on Flickr or IG, you are missing out on one of the best photographers in the world. He has been a huge inspiration to me over the past few years.

A few years back I came across a shot William had taken at this spot, and his caption and blog describing it were legendary.

Today I finally got the conditions I had been looking for, and it was really cool to see this spot light up. It was so good, it was in fact better than the keyhole just 50 yards down the beach.

Concrete beams with nice light, taken in La Gileppe, Belgium

Interesting sky as I emerged from Homebase, with the lower two clouds having the look of the lenticular about them, with a kind of spiral/helix above them. I've never seen lenticulars in the UK, only on my visit to Iceland a few years ago. If there are any experts out there to say if they are or not, I'd be glad to find out more.

The sunset over the Apuan Alps in Verrucole (Tuscany). It was actually a very dull day, the sky was just a big gray wall of clouds (I'll post a photo of the view tomorrow) except for few, brief moments like this when the Sun was literally firing beams of light on the mountains through gaps in the clouds.

Now this little guy was sure beaming because I chased him all over the yard trying to get a shot. He would let me get almost set up and then he would flutter away! I am sure I heard him cackle as he took flight! So this is the bet shot I could get out of my many attempts.View On Black

Okay, so this is actually one blue-lit spotlight of several that showcase the flagpoles you see behind it, the flags barely visible due to no wind and therefore at rest.

Enjoy and have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

The picture may have a lot of noise for which I apologise. Unfortunately the wood was very dark so I had to knock the ISO up to 1600, and still I could only get 1/20th speed to try and stop the fern blowing in the wind. When taking the shot I had seen this ray of light further up the stream so I set myself up and waited an eternity to catch it breaking where I wanted it too.

Had some amazing sunbeams over Pontypridd last week, it was a frantic photoshoot as I didnt have much time, but it was brilliant to watch them moving across the sky!
