A panoramic view across the Brecon Beacons. I hope that those who have walked it with me will feel that I have done such a beautiful place justice in this image.

Nee, das ist ein Zug mit E-Autos. Welche weiß ich gar nicht. Die hatten keinen Auspuff! Da macht nix - puff, puff, puff ...

Really attractive cloud in the right place at the right time when I reached the summit of Beacon Hill via the permissive paths. I took an easier, more direct, route back home!

We had to cut our camping trip very short between torrential rains, thunder, and lightning. We did manage a single dryish evening by the fire with s'mores, lit by these lanterns.

A very happy birthday to Staci Lee. I am pretty sure that Staci, like me, is often looking for light in the darkness to lead her on her path. Here's some light for you, dear. I hope it's a wonderful day.

Another shot of gorgeous St John's Point Lighthouse in Co Down. Taken at dusk as the beams were becoming more prominent.

With trees reflecting around a jetty on the River Usk, a view from the the promenade at Brecon to the Beacons and South Wales' highest mountains, Pen y Fan and Corn Du.

Pen Y Fan is the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons and in southern Britain. At 886m it is diminuative by continental standard but can still provide spectacular views and unforgiving conditions.

Photographically 2012 did not get off to a good start for me. Of the trip I have been on perhaps 25% have produced any images at all. It's hard to keep going when you keep hitting bad weather! Our hike up to Pen Y Fan was no better. Freezing rain made for quite unpleasant walking conditions and my waterproof shell literally became a shell of ice! Once the tent was up (on the summit of Pen Y Fan because I try not to do things in half measures) we were fine though. It was cold but down jackets and sleeping bags soon warm you up, as does hot chocolate with a spot of whisky! The night went well and I got up every 3 hours to check the weather (it was cloudy but still all night). By 5.30am a gap had appeared on the eastern horizon and with the high clouds overhead an wonderful sunrise became almost certain.

Getting out the tent revealed just how cold it had been overnight with ice covering the tent but photography was the only thing on my mind. Donning my crampons I set off around Pen Y Fan in search of compositions....

In 2010 plans for a new vertical pier and a redesign of the sea front were put to the people of Redcar & Cleveland Borough. The plans were accepted and construction started in 2011. A group named The Redcar Pier Association formed in 2011, and campaigned for a traditional, horizontal pier.

In September 2012 the name of Redcar Beacon was chosen. Other suggested names that made it to the final were : Crow's nest, Jubilee Pier, Lemon Top Tower, Mo's Lookout, Mowlam's Beacon in Tribute to the MP for Redcar Mo Mowlam. Redcar Skelter, Saltscar Tower, Vertical Pier. In 2013 it was nominated for the Building Design Carbuncle Cup for worst new building.

Brecon Beacons is a national park in Wales where I spent five action packed days with hundred and twenty little people in tow so you will undrstand that photography wasn't a priority this time around. Our days were filled with activities while damp, cold nights in tents meant we had to wrap up in several layers of clothing and sleeping bags.

This hike was my favourite part of the trip despite some moans and groans from my thirty strong group. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking everywhere we looked even though the skies were dark and the rain fell. We all loved seeing horses freely wandering around.

Time now to recover from being a doctor, nurse, paramedic, counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, entertainer, friend, Mrs Fixitall... the list goes on. Thank godness for Calpol and blue paper towels- miracle cures for everything!

This was taken in Beacon, New York. I used the Singh Ray Vari-N-Duo filter and converted this in Photoshop.

Grounds of the Dia Beacon gallery at Beacon, NY, about 50 miles up the Hudson from New York City. The gallery specialises in minimalist and conceptual art and is housed in a former Nabisco packet-printing plant.

I don't know what this is for. It was a single solitary structure closed to the public. My boyfriend suggests it's the future version of Goat-tower, and that makes the most sense to me. :v

Beacon Rock is the monolith in the foreground. Per wikipedia: Beacon Rock is a monolith on the north bank of the Columbia River. It was named by Lewis and Clark in 1805; they originally referred to it as Beaten Rock, later as Beacon Rock. They noted that the rock marked the eastern extent of the tidal influence in the Columbia. The rock was later known as Castle Rock, until 1915 when its name was changed back to Beacon Rock. Beacon Rock is 848 feet (258 m) tall and is composed of basalt. Henry Biddle purchased the rock in 1915 for $1 and during the next three years constructed a trail with 51 switchbacks, handrails and bridges. The three-quarter mile trail to the top, completed in April 1918,[6] leads to views in all directions. It is a popular hiking destination. (Ainsworth State Park area DSC_5684.jpg)

Taken in the Brecon Beacons at a place called Blaern Y Glyn Isaf. The water fall was very close to the mainstream path and was relatively easy to access. It took me a while to fine tune the angle and prospective to get the composition just how i wanted it. I took 3 shots and exposure blended them in PS using the darkest image as my base image then painting in the lighter two exposures to reveal the shadows and soft fluffy white water then using some radial filters in LR and finally a vignette to frame it.
