Yuki-chan: Oh my gosh Lilith! Are you OK?!
Lilith: What does it look like genius!
Yuki-chan: Sorry.... Whats wrong?
The theme for the Show & Tell session of the November 14 Meeting of the BCD (Jigsaw society) was Modes of Transport.
LNER 1929 Advertising Poster shows Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday pointing out the wonders of modern railway technology, holding a flyer for excursions to Hull.
The magnificent 1000pc wooden jigsaw is a challenging push-fit with some line cutting, and has a few pieces restored. The artist and maker are not known to me (I'll add any details that are given in the next BCD Magazine later.)
September 21, 2014 - Holy Cross Cathedral, Boston.
Cardinal Seán O'Malley was the main celebrant for the Mass for Public Safety Personnel and Families Sunday morning at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Local and state police and fire personal participated in the special Mass.
Photos by George Martell - BCDS.
An unusual small children's jigsaw by Cathedral Products, Norwich. Described as rather poor quality by its owner. The text of this illustration reads, 'Flop close behind, hitting the frightened gnome' - an illustration signed by Brian Gee.
The AVN Jones box is rather misleading, because once opened it reveals a very disappointing small 40pc jigsaw. It is the smallest size for the well-known South African Series, 6.8x4.5in, showing 'Golf Course at East London, Cape Province'. The series proclaims Empire Scenes of National and Universal Interest' made in the 1930s.

The 35pc Sooty jigsaw, 'Heading for a Splash' is in a yellow box on the edge of this photo.
John Hyde Collection:
Vintage 260pc jigsaw with an all-over interlocking cut, without line-cutting. It measures 17x12in and comes from BCD member stgenix's records. (Or possibly 180pc, John's ref jp2854).
Top right is John's edited photo. The version top left is my editing of his original. The box is covered in wallpaper and has no labels visible in the photo - it may or may not be the original box the cutter placed it in. The cutting is very assured, an all-over cut with many and long lobes.
In the comment below are all four examples (that I know of) of the 1913 Pears Annual print Appetising by E Ladell.
Top row: Tin label and jigsaw Fret-Saw Puzzles 187pc Ready for the Cook. I thought it might be Sani's Macaroni, which has a dark background, but it proved to be this 1913 Pears Annual print, the still life Appetising, by E Ladell. The jigsaw is cut in a tray arrangement: very large interlocking pieces enclose a rectangular cloud-cut centre. It is cut from solid board, quite loosely, and some of the dark pieces have suffered significant paper damage. Other pieces have rippled or peeling paper. It was quite an easy jigsaw, as expected from a low piece count without line cutting.
Centre Left: Vintage c250pc jigsaw with interesting push-fit or semi-interlocking cut. It measures 17x13in and was sold in April 2014 by a BCD member in Canada.
Lower Left: Vintage 260pc jigsaw with an all-over interlocking cut, without line-cutting. It measures 17x12in and comes from BCD member stgenix's records. (Or possibly 180pc, John's ref jp2854).
Lower Right: An all-over cut, slightly more random and with longer arms than the one on lower left, but with the benefit of some line-cutting. This belongs to new flickr member Cat Lady.
