Newport, Oregon. U.S. Coast Guard Yaquina Bay is the red-roofed building on the right.
The calm water in this image belies the treacherous conditions that boats encounter when crossing the Yaquina Bay bar. Last week a 42 foot fishing boat capsized during its attempt to enter the harbor, causing the loss of life for three crewmen. 14 to 16 foot waves were reported at that time.

According to the Powell River Museum, this site was operated by the Mahood Logging Co., and was once a railroad camp. On their website (www.powellrivermuseum.ca/place-names.html) a photo titled "Wolfson Logging at Brew Bay" is dated c. 1915.

The Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares (250 acres) in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden (in Marina South), Bay East Garden (in Marina East) and Bay Central Garden (in Downtown Core and Kallang). The largest of the gardens is the Bay South Garden at 54 hectares (130 acres) designed by Grant Associates. Its Flower Dome is the largest glass greenhouse in the world.
Gardens by the Bay was part of the nation's plans to transform its "Garden City" to a "City in a Garden", with the aim of raising the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city. First announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at Singapore's National Day Rally in 2005, Gardens by the Bay was intended to be Singapore's premier urban outdoor recreation space and a national icon.
Being a popular tourist attraction in Singapore, the park received 6.4 million visitors in 2014, while topping its 20 millionth visitor mark in November 2015 and over 50 million in 2018.
The Bay Breasted Warbler is certainly not one of the more noticeable birds to be found in the tropical paradise of Costa Rica. It is, as can be seen a little beauty.

GLC's high bay where their drop table and crane are located is much different than it was when I was a kid. Recently GLC spray foamed the entire high bay to help insulate and keep the building warm. Until they did this the entire section of the shop was large windows that were cold drafty and not very efficient, also with the upgrade to make up for the lack of sun light they installed LED lighting. Here is what it used to look like. flic.kr/p/s7ACNQ

HαΊ‘ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2 (600 sq mi), including 1,969 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 (129 sq mi) with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem and a seashore biosystem. HαΊ‘ Long Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.
A new fence prevented me from the shot I had imagined a few years prior. In fact, it largely prevented any worthwhile shot. If somebody once said that a photographer must feel pain for a shot to be worthwhile, then the series I took this day must be spectacular.
Prior to going on this dawn shoot at Talland Bay, I was concerned that the sunrise at this location would all happen behind the headland and that visiting this spot at sunrise would be a waste of time. I'm glad I decided to go anyway, because although the sun was obscured, the warm light radiated beyond the headland and out to sea. The headland actually worked in my favour in the end, because it acted as a diffuser and protected my image from the usual flare that we expect when shooting at the sun.
My first venture out beyond my local area since the lifting of lockdown restrictions, and fittingly back to Flamborough, East Yorkshire, where I visited just prior to lockdown being imposed. Though this time a little further around the headland at Thornwick Bay.
But whilst sunrise for my visit back in March was a more respectable 6 am, this time it was 4:50 am, requiring a 3 am start . Though I have to say that I was rewarded with near perfect conditions, plus total peace and solitude; no other silly devils up at that time I suppose.
