A stopover on the way home to Sydney from Bourke landed me in front of a stunning sky behind the Bathurst Courthouse.
Built in 1880, this Victorian architecture still hosts court hearings as well as the Bathurst and District Historical Society Museum.
There are other surprising delights among the buildings of Bathurst, but this has to be the jewel in the crown.
My first visit to the city of Bathurst and I had to take the chance to have a look at Australia's most famous street racetrack at Mt Panorama. The track is surrounded by rural properties, some featuring very nice houses which overlook the track .
Bathurst 1000, has been renamed several times in it's history and has generally featured tough competition between Holden and Ford V8s. I never realised that the track climbs so high apparently 174 metres between it's highest and lowest point and how grueling it must be to tear up to the top and then wrip down the tight bends coming down to "Conrod Straight" which is the fastest part of the track ending in a 90 degree bend.
The race is 161 laps which equals 1,000 kilometres long.

Under threatening skies on the 160th Birthday of NSW Railways, Endeavour N6 departs Parramatta with an InterCity-Regional Service from Bathurst to Sydney.
This facet quality crystal is etched. All of the surfaces of this fine gem specimen are natural crystal faces. This piece was formerly in the collection of Warren Somerville of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.
