The church is mostly known as Bath abbey - but the full name is the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It is now an Anglican church, but it started out as an abbey church to a Benedictine monastery. A church was first built on this spot in the 7th century - but the current building dates from the 12th to the 16th century (with some major restorations made in the 1860s, including to the ceiling and finishing the vaulting that had been partly abandoned back in the day - probably for financial reasons) and one of the better examples of the Gothic perpendicular style.

of Bath.
The view (from ~ 300 feet) on Bath Abbey and the city centre at night was taken from the Beechen Cliff Alexandra Park. Last December the centre of the city of Bath was transformed by impressive illuminations to support local economy and honoured efforts of NHS in these challenging times. It was aimed to make the Bath Abbey and the city centre visible from the top of seven hills all around Bath. I managed to do only two. Bath, England, UK.

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!!
The best views of city of Bath from Alexandra Park at the edge of Beechen Cliff. Bath, Somerset, England.
Our friends undertook to walk the Cotswold Way in 6-7 mile sections; they began last April and walked the 102 miles in 17 stages. The final stage was completed yesterday with Di joining in for the 6th time. Rod couldn’t walk this section as he is recovering from an Achilles’ tendon injury so will be out of action for several more weeks, poor thing. Our friends have raised over £3000 for charity.
The end (or beginning) of the route is at Bath Abbey, seen here on a very busy Saturday. We celebrated with a rather special afternoon tea at a nearby cafe.
HSS!
Bath Christmas 🎁 stalls near the Abbey famously framed by the York Street Arch at dusk with the wet pavements beautifully reflecting the evening light 🎄
Bath Abbey at night. The light through windows created attractive patterns on the ground. The Abbey doesn't have light outside normal open hours. This image was taken in evening before Remembrance Day last November, may be that was the reason. Bath Abbey, Bath city centre, BANES, England, U.K.
Thank you for your visit, comments and favours, very much appreciated.

A very perpendicular styled ceiling - a form of late Gothic style which this church is a prime example of.

Home learning has been about the moon and Neil Armstrong this week... So what better way to see out Saturday and watch the 'snow' moon rise over Bath.....
