Octagonal Bath, as the name indicates, is a gigantic bathing area made in the shape of an Octagon. The bath shelter is designed with an octagonal shaped platform at the middle and an encircling pillared veranda around it. The circular section between the veranda and the platform is the water (now empty) area. To the west of it you can spot the ruined bases of numerous palaces.

A garden cosmos (Rosenskära) gets the Nikkor 70-200mm/f2.8VR @f2.8 & Nikon D700 (FX) treatment, that is a "bokeh bath" :-) Also a visiting bee as a bonus.

In a couple of years this pile of rubble will have given way to the new Southgate development. Sadly the illustrations on the hoardings and the website at www.southgatebath.com/ suggest a rather bloodless neogeorgian thing. If you're going to build classically - and especially in Bath - then do it with conviction.
