The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Bath, commonly known as Bath Abbey, is an Anglican parish church and a former Benedictine monastery in Bath, Somerset, England. Founded in the 7th century, Bath Abbey was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries; major restoration work was carried out by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 1860s. It is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the West Country.

In a recent short visit to Bath, I found several parish boundary markers on the walls of buildings. Doubtless there are others. This one, in Northgate St, marks the boundary of St Michael's parish (with SS Peter & Paul), and is only a few yards away from the church itself.
Sometime in early 1979 (this is an approximate date) I visited Bath in the south west of England for a conference, and with an afternoon free I wandered around with my camera (which I think was a Nikormat FT2 35 mm SLR (from the description on Wikipedia, and the picture from the Nikon archives)). These are some of the pictures taken that day.
Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the UNESCO web page "Founded by the Romans as a thermal spa, Bath became an important centre of the wool industry in the Middle Ages. In the 18th century, under George III, it developed into an elegant town with neoclassical Palladian buildings, which blend harmoniously with the Roman baths."
