C-FTGX The 1944 vintage airframe arrived from Stockholm and is operated by Bell Geospace it was its way back to the USA having spent time in Finland on a Geophysical Survey. The aircraft was built by Douglas at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1944 for the US military taking up serial 43-48508 before joining the Navy as 17266 in AUG 1944, by the mid 1960s it was sold into the civillian market and by the early 1970s was flying out of Alaska as N2566B by the late 70s it had changed hands once again and was registered N56KS
owned Kachemak Seafoods of Alaska before it was moth balled at Anchorage in Oct 1978. 1980 saw it fly for Sea Bear Air Transport still based in Alaska on the 2nd of June 1981 it was Substantially damaged in incident at Togiak Airport, Alaska the aircraft undershot the runway on final approach to land No fatalities. Carrying Chinare marks which is the Chinese Antarctic & Arctic research agency, an abbreviation for Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration. I'm not sure about the Xue Ying titles, but it means Snow Shadow so presumably an aircraft name.
Delivered to the US Army AF as a C-47A-75-DL with serial 42-100983, websites suggest circa 1942, though CCARCS says 1944. At some point it went to Brazil with an unknown operator(s) as PP-XAS then PP-YPA and ended up with the Israeli Defense Force as 4X-FNH with 120 Squadron and serial 17. Acquired by Basler in Apr 2004 as N471DK for their 49th such conversion. It flew in Dec 2014 and joined KBA in Mar 2015.
Am 9.5.1989 führt SNCF BB-20202 einen Coilzug aus dem lothringischen Industrierevier durch Basel-St. Johann Richtung Basel SBB RB.
