U.S. Army Drill Sergeant leaders welcomed the newest candidates of 2nd Platoon #Wolfpack to the #USADSA Oct 4. Only the most qualified NCOs are chosen to attend Drill Sergeant School, where they are trained to fulfill a role of utmost importance—the role of a #DrillSergeant. The candidates are currently in the red phase of the Drill Sergeant Academy Course
Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the U.S. Army, training 50 percent of all Soldiers and 70 percent of the women entering the Army each year.
I entered the U.S. Army on June 12th, 1968, and was sent immediately to Fort Ord, California, to begin basic training in what became my "new home" for over 4 months.

Several years ago, I began trying to locate my old comrades. By the time I tracked down Herb, he was already deceased. I found Jim desperately ill, but was able to communicate with him before he passed on. Bob and Charlie are alive and well.

In January 1998, I went to Fort Benning to attend Bryce's graduation from boot camp / basic training.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the soldiers are presented with their Infantry Blue Cord - 'turning blue'.
After the ceremony, everyone went to the parade grounds for a demonstration.
