The Bay Area Rapid Transit District's Power & Way Department operated this hi-rail-equipped 1974 GMC/Howe 300-GPM pumper for emergencies on its electrified rail lines in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am unsure of its status, although it has presumably been retired by now.
Waso De Cauter (rhytm guitar) and Dajo De Cauter (double bass) teamed up with Bart Maris (trumpet) and guests for an amazing jazz jam on Sunday June 17 in Hot Club de Gand in Ghent.

I have been having a photographic love affair with the BART stations, but mostly images shot with my iPhone and posted on Instagram. Are you using Instagram? If you are, find me there: pketron
this particular bit of graffiti appeared this past week in the tunnel entrance, as you head east towards the underground Oakland stations. there's a similar one that i'm pretty sure was done by the same artist at the other end of the tunnel, showing a corporate blob with a big bag of money. i've tried several times to capture that one, but it's in a shady spot. this one however, is in full afternoon sun! i really love them both -- does anyone know anything more about these?

Date of Birth: 1996
Came to Remus Sanctuary: 2013
Bart came to Remus Sanctuary when staff were able to rescue him from Travellers. He had the most awful life and had been beaten and pushed about.
Over the years he has spent at the sanctuary he has learnt to trust people again, and is now a friendly little chap. It is so pleasing to see him enjoying his life and freedom.

The new cars, now coming on line, include a Hearing Loop among their features! This allows those with telecoils in their hearing aids to access improved hearing options on the noisy cars. I tried one the other evening. I think they still have wrinkles to work out. I didn't notice a big difference. The track noise is pretty brutal for many portions of the map. I hope I get another chance to try it soon.
If you wear hearing aids, be SURE to ask your provider/audiologist to ACTIVATE YOUR TELECOIL, so that when you encounter an opportunity like this--many public spaces--you can take advantage of greatly improved hearing.
