We made the barstools from bathroom toilet paper roll holders. Their shape was very good and shiny surface is just the chrome look we wanted for the diner. After much testing of different ways to make the seats we saw these ash trays in a lovely red or white, and placed them upside down for the stool seats. We used Styrofoam to seat them on the pedestal and sprayed the Styrofoam with a clear seal for durability.

Lounging on some bar stools...

While I was in an ice cream parlor shooting for a TRP and FGR shot, my model and I noticed the shoes of one of the waitresses. Once we had finished our work, my model complimented the waitress on her colorful shoes and I asked if I could take a photograph or two of them.

The waitress, Cameron, wanted to know if her face would be in the photograph. After I assured her it would be shoes only, she agreed to stand on a barstool for this photograph. She said that she really liked her shoes, but her friends often kidded her about them. What do they know Cameron? Your shoes rock!

I thought about making Cameron my 74th stranger in my 100 Strangers project, but I decided against it. I've already done one combined Bench Monday and 100 Strangers shot. Another would be pushing my luck.

Anicha Heartsong (username), aka Anicha Wildflower on a barstool, for a club photocontest. They said they wanted something artistic, so I went all in on the post production. This is part of a series, all using the same basic shot but with different treatments.

If you have been playing along, you will remember that I was in desperate need of barstools (or technically counter stools) for our kitchen. Well, one day I spotted these babies on Craigslist and pulled out all the stops to make sure they became mine! With a little help from my parents (they were located where they live, not where I live), mission accomplished! And look at that atomic pattern on them - wheee!!

So... I desperately need vintage barstools for the kitchen counter at our new house, but sets are absolutely impossible to find! Every once in a while I see a single one that is "what I picture" ... but never even a set of two! Well, I found "what I picture" in this Ward's 1963 catalog I just acquired. A whole darn page of it! I don't know if this is supposed to make me happier to at least know they existed (and were assumingly popular given the number of different styles offered), OR if this is going to prove to just further frustrate me! So far, I am just frustrated! It's always a love-hate with these old catalogs, I'm sure you all understand...
