A wonderful summer sunset in London by the river Thames with a beer or two (or was it even three?). I was lucky to catch the whole summer in London (apparently consisting of 2.5 days per year). So after an evening in the photographers-famous Richmond park I took the Tube and Southeast Trains to the Thames Barrier.
Water usually provides a good mood for sunset photos.
With the barriers down at Kiveton Park Station , the 1722 2P76 Lincoln - Sheffield DMU can safely pass by.

Most of Zeeland is at or under sea level. In 1953 the dikes were in poor condition and too low. In those days the chance of flooding was once in eighty years. Thanks to the storm surge barrier, this risk has now been reduced to less than once in 4000 years. Take the opportunity to visit this construction inside and outside. You will be surrounded by concrete with a 200-year guarantee, 45 meter wide steel doors are raised to let the tides rush through below them.
To me there is nothing like the light in the morning...er, well, unless it is the light in the late afternoon...
This is a photograph of the famous Thames river waterway featuring part of the Thames barrier and Canary Wharf financial complex in the distance. Canary Wharf tower, the O2 (Greenwich Dome/Millennium Dome) and part of the barrier are shown.
Concrete barriers waiting to be used.
Here I overexposed a bit and the stand dev wasn't able to protect the highlights...

I have not posted anything on Flickr for a long time. Actually I have not uploaded anything anywhere for long long time but I thought I'll share some more. Lots has happened in the meantime. Here is a quick update. Not a drone, but a privately chartered helicopter at probably the best place of the great barrier reef - hardy reef. Feel free to leave a comment if you like the photo.

Thought this was an interesting photo. Barriers used for blocking off the street sit unused next to an art gallery.
