Main landing Hauturu (Little Barrier Island).

These barriers hold back silt and pollutants. In these thick salt grasses are 3 small Herons.The Marsh edges provide habitat for Blue Crabs.The sticks are cedars that have become a very popular perch for feeding on fish.

We are not exactly 'tree hugger' but we do agree with these efforts.Just makes sense to at least slow it down . Note the foliage behind the barrier.Lush comes to mind.

A2 Personal Investigation - Doors and Barriers

Doors can symbolize many things such as a new start, opportunity but also isolation and imprisonment. I decided to focus on the door as a barrier. We face many barriers daily such as language barriers, cultural barriers or even barriers between genders. When these minor barriers form obstacles in our lives, we get stressed out and frustrated. However, did you ever think about people living with a major physical barrier? People in North Korea are still living a medieval life. They cannot travel outside the country and do not have freedom of speech. Everything is under the control of the military forces. My main inspiration for this topic was ‘Christo and Jeanne Claude’s Iron curtain’. Christo and Jeanne Claude built an installation art piece with oil barrels to form a physical barrier as a political reaction to the Berlin Wall of 1962. I wanted to explore the idea of the barriers facing the Korean people and the divide between the North and south.

 

Theme: Breaking Barriers

We are living in an ever evolving and rapidly changing working environment. However, with all

these changes, there will always be barriers of entry for learning new skills or getting involved in

new ideas.
