A sunny, warm Southern California day is all that shirtless guy on the right (half bare!) needs to get through the winter.

I know what you're thinking, and the answer is yes, it was as yummy as it looks.

This is me! I've been waiting for a rainy day to post this because I figured it'd be a good "tag" picture. My brother took this last Saturday in Wolfeboro, NH when I wasn't looking :).

I was tagged by Dan Lopez. Check him out if you have time! All of his pictures are well composed and I'm a big fan of his post-processing and light leaks. It's kind of ridiculous how amazing his pictures are, especially considering he takes most of them with an Apple iPhone. He inspired me to go out and take some pictures with my Android G1... I failed miserably...

10 random facts:

1. I'm 18 and am going to be a senior at Lexington High School this year.

2. I am terrified of house centipedes. I cautiously approach my desk every morning after I wake up, violently shake it, and then quickly retreat because about 30% of the time there will be one hiding in the shadows. My hatred for them is something so pure that I really can't even begin to describe it haha.

3. I'm much better at Guitar Hero than I am at guitar (relatively speaking).

4. I haven't sworn since July, 2006.

5. I round gas prices up because I refuse to be deceived by the subtle 9/10 of a cent that usually escapes our consideration. Rebellious, I know...

6. I choose stairs over escalators.

7. I can solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded.

8. At one point I had 312 digits of pi memorized (I was desperate to occupy my mind with something during drivers ed...).

9. I'm terrible at participating in English class, but I'm OK with that.

10. I use summer as an opportunity to change. So in early July, I read Into the Wild twice through, borrowed a book on beginner's photography, bought a dSLR, and hopped on my bike and went exploring.

edit: I'm actually pretty good at participating in English class now... who woulda thought...

All credit can go to my mom for this one. I was taking a nap in the car (we were returning from a college visit at Brown University) and when she drove past this weird-looking sculpture she got off at the next exit and found it for me. I guess she's got the minimalist's eye as well!

What does this look like to you? So far I've got:

1) Fingertips - me

2) Quidditch poles - Noha

3) Bubble blowers - Diana

4) An "abstract bouquet" - "esantha"

5) Audi logo taking a curve - "Dr Cullen" & Miles

6) Olympic rings - Ivor

With today's world using smart phones for everything, I still use my cell phone as the intended use of talking to my friends. Bare Minimum.

My mom randomly organized my bulletin board this morning and I noticed she made this cool pattern. I naturally felt the need to take a picture of it.

The animal's name is Bullfrog Montgomery. One day in history my friend Ben Goulet drew this guy, cut it out, and slid it on to my desk. It was pretty random and I found it pretty amusing, so I kept it and pinned it on the bulletin board next to my desk. I'll post a picture in the comments of Ben's explanation on how to derive the name.

As seen on the side of a Coca-Cola vending machine in Wolfeboro, NH. Slight curve adjustments were made in CS4.

I've been trying to think more abstractly lately. I'd like to think I'm kind of getting there, but it is very difficult -_-. I definitely like the division of simplicity and complexity in this picture.

I took this the second night I got my camera. I went out a couple of nights ago and they didn't come out nearly as well... so I think this was just luck :P.

If you are wondering, this is the ramp that leads to the Zakim Bridge in Boston.

Another picture of a brick wall. Surprise, surprise.

Captured with a -2/3 exposure bias at 8:45am under the Tobin Bridge. Didn't process this a great deal; the lighting worked well in underexposing the subject.

Thanks Dickson, Tom, and Saif for helping me through the daunting task of cropping this thing :).

First legit lens flare. I learned so much about shooting into the sun today it's not even funny.

This is straight-out-of-camera. The lighting couldn't have been better. It was around 7:30, so the sunlight was really gentle but the sky was still a cool and clear shade of blue.

This is pretty cliché--I admit it. But I really like how the two colours go together :).

Lax kid on a cell phone. The epitome of cool.

Innocent on the outside, but I think this kid is secretly communist.

Abstract photography and minimalism are awesome but collectively my pictures sometimes make me feel way too emotionless (walls can do that sometimes). So this is my first attempt at changing things up a bit. Eventually I'll get the hang of this...

I kind of overlooked this until a friend encouraged me to post it. This was taken with ISO 400 color film, but in the end I decided it just looked better b&w. I don't know whether or not that's considered cheating with film here on flickr... (if it is, :| oops). Honestly though, all I did was open it in CS4 and did a one-click b&w conversion using default settings. There was nothing to it.

Before I closed on the sale of my Paris apartment, I managed to stay in it a last few days. This was my 'office': in the kitchen, with the few things the 'tenant' hadn't stolen.

A lovely, Spartan existence...

And I like the light.

the day we went to kiyomizu-dera was probably the hottest day of 2007. as you can see from this picture, not a cloud in the sky, hard light and kyoto hills to navigate. a wonderful day, but it was hot!
