Installation made for senior thesis preview show, fall 2003. Hundreds of Bangles linked together and held togther with fishing line. Each string of bangles was about 8 feet long. Senior Thesis Fall 2003.
A rich coffee and cream wooden bracelet, size 7. Two inches wide, but graceful, thin, and light. The bangle was turned and sanded on the lathe, then hand sanded and immersed in a dye bath of coffee. The gray heartwood turned a beautiful chocolate brown, and the blond sapwood appears cognac. Finished with hand rubbed walnut oil.
Many years ago, my father and I milled and dried lumber from some maple trees that had to be felled on their property. This bracelet is made from a small scrap offcut of that lumber. So it is twice reclaimed, perhaps.
