Street deer are commonplace throughout Bellingham in recent years. When I lived in the city I only saw one in the whole year I was there. On this visit I saw several dozen daily - they seem to like eating people's lawns

Bambi's teeth are noticeably brighter than usual in this photograph. She was in a good mood, as I was at the far earlier than usual, and gave them extra treats.
Took this is my back yard in Kitchener, Ontario with a Pentax K3 with a 300mm f4 lens. For more check out my Instagram @tannerjbentley or 500px.
Thank you!
I found this little sweetheart on a recent walk with my friend, JoAnna. He or she was right on the river bank hiding and pretending we couldn't see him/her.
Trouble maker?? My heart is getting hardened to this little scamp and his mother! They have eaten All the leaves off the trees as high as Mom can reach and that would include my 2 year old Dogwood tree!! They have eaten ALL my Hosta plants down to the nubs. This one is standing on the edge of the yard there is a steep climb up into the forest where there are Plenty of trees to eat. To the left is what is left of my Hostas. And they aren't even part of the herd of 4 does that wander through every other day or so eating their way to happiness. :( So many deer! When I take my granddaughter home in the evenings, I can easily count between 8-10 deer alongside the roads and it's only a 20 min. drive! Unfortunately many of these will wind up as road kill but then the buzzards will be happy I guess. All I'm saying is that if they insist on making my yard a smorgasbord, they should eat the grass and weeds also. Especially the grass.......

Bambi has the softest fleece of all the alpacas, though they're all very soft and luxurious. She lets me pat her while giving her treats.
White-tailed deer, Rondeau Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada, August 2, 2019.
"Bambi" is still staying in the general vicinity of our yard.
There is a small herd across the road and down about 1/4 mile.
Odocoileus viriginianus
White-tailed deer prefer a mixture of open areas and forest, which provide coverage. They are commonly seen in woodlands, meadows and abandoned farms and near streams. During the summer months, deer will be found in forested areas where there is abundant food. However, in the winter, when there is less food and the snow is deep, deer will concentrate in “deer yards” where there is food and shelter from winter storms.

This fawn was a newborn, I am pretty sure, it had some 'stuff' stuck on its lower eyelashes, which I removed.
It was out in a field with another one, one that wobbled off, all alone, which, I am sure that the mother was close. Yes, I know that (adult) deer can go crazy, I took my chances... :)
While in Lethbridge, Bambi and her friends paid a visit to the area. The trestle bridge lay in the background
Bambi is a few weeks away from her shearing, and is at peak cuteness. I need to get better at knitting, so I can make a scarf out of her fleece, which has a "medium fawn" hue.
Bambi often has hay or grass sticking out of her mouth; she may think it looks cool. The dome behind her is the farm's new educational building, so we can hold classes and events year round.
What a night! By Les Nanas de Loz @nanasdeloz on instagram. Beautiful people, music on point, food was delicious and the hosts were just awesome. Can't wait for the next one. Took place on the 31st of August 2021 in Lausanne, Switerland.

Bambi knows that if she hangs around in the shed while I'm trying to clean, she's likely to get some treats outside. I soon gave the alpacas a bowl of grain pellets outside and cleaned the barn while they were distracted.
Despite Corona ... a visit to the petting zoo brings joy and closeness for people and animals. Don't forget ... bring a cup of acorns or collect them in the forest .... like Steve with his mom here.
Bambi loves to look at the camera and show off different expressions for me, She's a very good alpaca model.
Bambi and Hazel are coming to see me upon my arrival today. I need to use the 105mm lens more often. It's my favorite flower lens, but it's also great for portraits.
Bambi loves posing for the camera, and doesn't mind the flash. She's the cutest of the five alpacas.
