Sully is my and my boyfriend's year old Royal Python. This is him during feeding time. He is a very gentle snake, and incredibly friendly.
I think these will be the last of this shoot I'll post (at least for now) until they get their hands on them.
Once again, I really enjoyed this shoot, I had such a good time, these guys are great

Couldn't resist getting a shot of Penny gobbling down her second mouse. Used the lens shift to get some more interesting blur effects and to get the image a bit more macro.
I reckon this juvenile was quite comfortable coiled around my hand. I just love these snakes. It's only by manipulating adults that you can really appreciate how powerful these animals are. The whole body is just pure muscle. They are such impressive animals.
In the vodoun religion, these guys are sacred animals. The pythons you can see in the temple are wild, they are not fed by anyone. When people come across a python, they bring it to the temple, which usually holds about 40 pythons. It is a cool and dark place where pythons like to stay during the day. When night falls, they come out, looking for prey.

"Monty" came under my care on August 30, 1987. He was most certainly wild caught in Africa and also at least 5 years old when I got him. Now 27 years later he's probably between 30 - 35 years old. He'a a Royal (Ball) python (Python regius). The longetivity record for a captive Royal python is 47+ years. Royal pythons are among the smaller pythons rarely exceeding 4 - 5 feet in length and are extremely docile. Photo by Frank.
