My royal pythons baby photos - his first mouse at home!

Ball Python. Hanging out in our driveway this chilly day. Had to have escaped from someone. He looked fed and cared for. We caught him and found him a home with our neighbor, who it turns out, already had one snake. He was about 18 inches long. Definitely not native to these parts...

A neighbor from down the road was walking around with her Ball Python and obliged my request for a photo. Beautiful snake!

My ball. Cute little cuddlebug.

Ball pythons are constrictors; they're not venomous. And, Captain is far too small to constrict a human. The educator said that the patterns on her back look interesting to us, but given the visual perception of some predators, they would look like giant eyes.

It is not only dogs that end up at the shelter. This is Caine, he needs a home.

Our first albino hatching... no name as yet - Bree shot down "Mighty Whitey" (a name some friends and I came up with when we were young for a giant albino gorilla movie)

These heat lamps burn out so quickly!

The ball python or python regius is a nonvenomous python species found in Africa. This is the smallest of the African pythons and is popular in the pet trade, largely due to its typically docile temperament. No subspecies are currently recognized.

The name ball python refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened. The color pattern is typically black or dark brown with light brown or gold sides and dorsal blotches. The belly is a white or cream that may include scattered black markings.

This python is known for being a picky eater and may not eat for months, particularly during the winter breeding season. Ball pythons will not eat when they preparing to shed.

Axanthic Ball Python. Lacks yellow coloration. If on a white background it looks like a black & white photograph.

An ultra-zoom into her head. Look at the scale patterns and reflection of me in her eye. My pet Ball Python, "Puff". She is about four feet long.

Say hi to Calico :o)

She is a CB13 Yellow Belly Royal Python and is just the best fathers day present from HJ and KL

she (confirmed female) came home on June 15th and ate that evening after settling in instantly ... and after a quick cuddle!

She is totally different to Hob in that she is slow and methodical with her movements, she is so very laid back and calm, plus she loves just lazing about wrapped around my arm ...

... until feeding time ...

... when she goes off like a bear trap when presented with hot-headed food. i am so very glad to have 18" steel tongs!!!

the yellow belly morph is a co-dominant trait and when two the same are paired; you can end up with, funnily enough, yellow bellies, classics and "super yellow bellies" which are called Ivories and they are white with a spinal stripe and blue eyes!

oh and just to confuse matters, she is called calico but is not a calico morph!

calico currently weighs in around 355g and has the potential to reach something like 2.5Kg and 5' ... maybe bigger!

This is actually a Light Painting!

One of my ball pythons. Ive never tried to photograph these guys because of the lack of a macro and good lighting. To light this I used a desk lamp as a flash light for evenish lighting. f/16@200mm, 3sec.
