Worked with Canon EOS 650D
Straight Out Of Camera and without image processing!
17 minutes exposure time!!!!!
Here's a different look at the gears. Playing with the colour sliders in Lightroom for some fun and to know what can be done.
Out the other night and the eye trapped me! This was taken in one single frame. Enjoy. I will be giving away an 8x10 print of Piano man New Years Day stay tuned for details of that.
Here's one from Just before going to Vegas with Nelly Bowes. I love how soft it is like shes going into the portal and reaching for the star to save her.

The new journey begins....
Been AGES since I headed out to make new light painting work on my own, and for myself. My favourite form of therapy!
Managed to squeeze in a couple of hours of LP in the blackout studio today and learned so much about so many new tools. I’m so excited!

It's already been 2 weeks since my last #Lightpainting and in #Mati (#Athen, #Greece) there are some interesting motifs. I noticed a lot of #LostPlaces while jogging in the morning. But #nature itself is even more interesting. Here you get to see great #sunrises every day. So instead of jogging, I took my camera with me.
The first attempt failed because the wind was too strong.
The second morning it was better. The #ORB wasn't gone with the wind. I hope you like the picture. Then leave me a like. Thank you!

I have been away from lightpainting for a while and I am excited to be back to photographing Orbs. I found that my Orb maker is very deficient and I plan to make some upgrades and finally get some new colored LEDs. I have also been scouting new locations so be expecting some more Orbs when the next full moon comes around. Hopefully I will be ready by then. Meanwhile I am continuing to shoot lots of film with my Holga and my Zorki (I still need to get stuff developed).
ive seen alot of these about on flickr but ive never tried one my self so here it is my first wool orb
really liked this tunnel so ill be down here a few more times i think :D
This is from one of my sessions I did experimenting with the lens ball and light painting. Imagine the scene ... a camera on the tripod, a colored light and the lens ball, in a dark room with a half-crazy guy inside ... it looks like he's in a fucking nightclub with all those crazy lights.. . I just need the music! In the distance I hear the mother asking the children ... where is dad? He's there in the room playing with the crystal ball, they respond ... I feel like a little boy playing with my things ... it's crazy ... excellent crazy!
Thank you very much for reading this ... for your visits, faves and kind comments.

Another shot from a damp evening shooting St.Benet's Abbey in rural Norfolk. This is isn't the best orb I ever did but I was torn between a foggy lens and OCD on the night; foggy lens won....
Single exposure.

Last night I was out watching the "Blue Moon" (second full moon in one month) and spotted the Ball of Light in one of its old haunts, under the Grange Jetty.
The amazing thing was that it was sinking into the sand! It must have been waiting all night like me to see the Blue Moon set.
It was an absolutely stunning night. About an hour after this sighting the moon turned deep deep red, and turned the see the same colour. Stunning. Then the sun came up about an hour later.

Over the past few weeks I have had the honor of bringing some huge smiles, Joy, and excitement to several young children with a variety of health conditions by being able to visit them in their homes dressed as Santa! I spent a day dressed as Santa on one of these days and went along as photographer on another day where a coworker did the same thing.
Some of these conditions that these children have are terminal and even though it is extremely hard for me to see these kids this way, it was an absolute wonderful feeling to be able to be a part of bringing some joy and excitement into their lives, if only for a few moments! Unfortunately, I cannot post any of the photos due to Health Privacy. These children are cared for, in some cases around the clock, by the nurses in the company that I work for. I only have praise for what they do on a daily basis in their jobs and know that there is no way that I could what they do! They are truely angels!
Christmas is all about giving and what a joy it is to be able to do just that!
Merry Christmas Everyone! :-)

My first attempt with the 'ball of light'. This was made with a torch, since plan A miserably failed. A young friend of mine is inside the sphere.

I just happened to be hanging out at the Grange Jetty in Adelaide one morning at about 5am. The moon was setting, and gave off this crazy sun like glow, it was utter madness.
Next thing the always awesome orange Ball of Light appears. I think it thought the moon was a distant relative, obviously not a liked one because it was hiding under the jetty.
Nice to see it was still in a reflective mood!
One day to go till the holiday, YEAH !

THE BALL OF LIGHT MOVIE IS HERE! : www.denissmith.com.au/about/ball-of-light-movie/
The moon was so insanely bright tonight, I just had to make the most of the beach. It felt like the moon rose perfectly above me, then stayed still for ages.
It was nice and still, and for once there were no ships on the horizon. I love reflections so much, and tonight the Ball of Light did not disapoint. And I had so much fun.
I hope you all had a nice Full Moon weekend, and have a safe easter!
(The only adjustments to this image are minor brightness and saturation tweaks. NO PIXELS ARE ADDED OR REMOVED. It is taken in a SINGLE EXPOSURE, with no use of "mechanical devices".
This week the night sky in our region offered ideal conditions to take a photo of the Milky Way. Since the Lüneburg Heath was completely booked out by e-bike retirees at the weekend and the distance for a day trip is too far for me, another dark area had to be found. So first ask the #LPM app. See there, about 150km from home there is an area in Sollingen (Nordheim district) that is not so polluted by light. So pack things and go there. Arrived in the early afternoon, there was still enough time to look around and find a few locations to take photos. These shouldn't be too far from a parking lot either, because I didn't want to drag the equipment through the night forever. So I hiked about 9 km with Geane to explore the area. Except for a lookout tower, there was no free panoramic view of the sky here. Since it was very windy, it moved the tower relatively strongly, which made long-term exposure impossible. So I asked the #PhotoPills app about the position of the Milky Way at night. Then I came across a path with the right orientation. So now we just had to wait for the night. We enjoyed the sunset on the #Hochsollingturm. Then we made our way to the #torfmoor-parking lot and got to work. The result is “The Way To The Milkyway”.
The following were used:
#CANON EOS 6DII
#LAOWA D-Dreamer 12mm F2.6
#LEDLenser
#BallOfLight Tool
Of course there was no photo shop here. First I set the lens to the distance of the orb with the aperture f22 and painted the orb. Then a part of the environment is illuminated with the LEDLenser and the lens is set to maximum distance and aperture f2.8. Then post-exposed for 20 seconds. That’s it. With a little practice, you can still do it perfectly. I'll try that again in the Lüneburg Heath.

I don't know if the weekend was an omen in the darkness the Ball of Light presented.
There are times in your life when you are forced to sit back and take stock of everything. I was at a good friends house on the weekend and asked the question. "if you found out you were going to die, would you be happy with what you had done with your life last week?"
Then I asked the question "With that in mind will you do things differently next week?"
7 Years ago I made some changes in my life that would forever make my life better. And better for those around me. I wake every day and feel so happy with the direction my life is heading. It has been unbelievably hard, but I will not stop working to continue on this path!
Ok, so thats out. Check out this sweeeeeet image!
Peace to you all, Denis
