I like this even more than the no bake black bottom peanut butter silk pie from vwav. The filling is really different-it's like baked mousse,so it gets this awesome texture. And the maple candied pecans are delicious, even by themselves. But the best part is the peanut butter caramel.holy crap it's amazing.I mean it's kind of obvious that my favourite food is peanut butter,so it's inclusion in this dessert is what really makes it for me.and peanut butter with caramel it just beyond me.it's so many different flavours and textures, but all in one pie and not all so different from eachother that they make the taste complicated and difficult, but they compliment each other so well.Sorry, but I don't have any Kate Bush lyric comparisons for this pie.maybe i'll think of one.
This is a recipe from Vegan Yum Yum and I used flax seed mixture instead of the egg replacer and I think it taste good too!
Zoe and Kirsten at our vegan cake sale / t-shirt sale in Dorchester town centre in aid of Compassion in World Farming for the upcoming Bake With Compassion Week (October 15th 2011)
It did give me a squared circle though ;)
The other reason is that it's too much like chemistry. I had this recipe for buns that said that the oven had to be at 40°c for the dough to raise (or is it rise), my oven won't do that, it'll only do 50°c at the lowest. So they did raise some but then the final result was totally disappointing. So no more buns for me. Too much cleaning up and too much waste.
You start by soaking the fruit in rum (I use dried fruit) and then after the loaves bake and cool you wrap them in rum-soaked cheesecloth and store them in an airtight container to "mature".
