Theme for Crazy Tuesday on Nov. 25 is "black&white." This was taken at Apple Annies, a family-owned restaurant and bakery in Morgantown, W.Va. This iPhone shot was taken on November 24.
The Ingleside Bakery Cafe is where every visitor to Evandale usually ends up. The food is wonderful and the charm of the shop inside and in their courtyard garden is so appealing. (We can overlook the, hopefully, temporary crosses on the floor here that mark the spots for social distancing).
We enjoyed an appetising lunch and I seized the opportunity to take a photograph with no people in it (wonderful!). In normal circumstances that is simply impossible. This bakery is usually packed with people. But I loved the way the sunlight through the arched windows highlighted the old floorboards.
The building itself was constructed in 1867 as the town's Council Chambers and Courthouse and is typically Victorian. In 1987 the building was sold and established as a bakery in 1988. And the rest as they say is history. I recommend their curried scallop pies by the way.

Smile On Saturday-Mugs With Words.
Stu had a gig at the Ithaca Bakery Friday evening and I saw a bunch of mugs on the shelves in the store. This was one of them.
GTW 5856 (OLS markings) & CN 4775 do the honors on L58691 20 on this beautiful Saturday morning. While this might not've been the ideal shot I had in mind, I think it still checks out just fine. After years of failing, I've finally shot the Dubuque local switching out Bimbo Bakeries--definitely well worth the wait. Taken on 3/20/21.

This will appear in my album ‘Grim Up North’ but that is not a slight. It’s just a term for northern architecture and culture. In my opinion, it’s fab up north (England)
Created for the Hypothetical Awards Mini Challenge: SHOPFRONTS!
Many layers going on here - it originally started off as an image of flowers I took a few days ago, and then I decided to layer a photo on top which I took last winter of a bakers window that I've been wanting to use for some time!!
PIRAMIDS OF GIZA
The only survivor of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the main part of a complex setting of buildings that included two mortuary temples in honor of Khufu (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite" pyramid, a raised causeway connecting the two temples, and small mastaba tombs surrounding the pyramid for nobles. One of the small pyramids contains the tomb of queen Hetepheres (discovered in 1925), sister and wife of Sneferu and the mother of Khufu. There was a town for the workers of Giza, which included a cemetery, bakeries, a beer factory and a copper smelting complex. A few hundred meters south-west of the Great Pyramid lies the slightly smaller Pyramid of Khafre, one of Khufu's successors who is also commonly considered the builder of the Great Sphinx, and a few hundred meters further south-west is the Pyramid of Menkaure, Khafre's successor, which is about half as tall. In May 1954, 41 blocking stones were uncovered close to the south side of the Great Pyramid. They covered a 30.8 meter long rock-cut pit that contained the remains of a 43 meter long ship of cedar wood. In antiquity, it had been dismantled into 650 parts comprising 1224 pieces. This funeral boat of Khufu has been reconstructed and is now housed in a museum on the site of its discovery. A second boat pit was later discovered nearby.[

In the Christmas bakery
There is some treat
Between flour and milk
Quite a few guys do
A huge mess
In the Christmas bakery
In the Christmas bakery
One of my favorite Christmas songs. It is on German:
The bright colored chairs and facade of the Ceres Street Bakery in Portsmouth, NH are lit softly by the setting sun behind me. Fun Fact: The bakery is actually located on Penhallow St. where it has been located since 1983. From 1980 to 1983 it was located on Ceres St. and it just kept the name.
Snowflake Bakery, Orchid for historic recognition: "These renovations were thoughtfully carried out by the owner, with careful attention paid to the details, combined with the collaborative passion of the artisan painters." - Union Tribune, 10/28/2011
This photo of mine was featured in the Union Tribune (local newspaper) this morning. The Snowflake Bakery building won an Orchid in the Orchids and Onions award ceremony last night. The photo was commissioned by ASMP and architectural photographer Mike Torrey.

This model was heavily inspired from a painting by Carole Spandau which represents a Montreal-esque vintage architecture building: fineartamerica.com/featured/montreal-bakery-vintage-montr...
I felt the design would lend itself well in LEGO form which got me started on this project. Despite the simplicity, designing this was an absurdly difficult challenge, which took a long time. I'm glad I saw it through and now I can finally share it with all of you!
