Once the commonest type of working-class housing in Birmingham, only this set of back-to-back houses survives, protected by the National Trust

Captured this Image while last trip to Chikmagalore, Karnataka, India. We went there on Bike with friends. On Nation Highway 75 near Mangalore I've tried this. This is Just a Experimental click on ride. Low light & High Speed is the most Challenge here.

Thank You.

Taking a break, back to back.

More Winchester pictures HERE.

Now in the care of the National Trust, this is the last remaining court of back-to-back dwellings in the city of Birmingham. Each of the immaculately restored houses recreates a different period in the history of the court and recalls the lives of those who lived there.

Located at 50-54 Inge Street and 55–63 Hurst Street, the historic court seen here was opened in 1840 and has become one of Birmingham's most popular tourist attractions.

This is one of Leicester's last remaining examples of Victorian 'slum' houses. It faces an uncertain future.

I was hiking at Kickapoo Valley Reserve adding some sections of trail to my ...

Trail Challenge for this year.

This would be Section 3 which is considered mostly a boring trail, but there were some real surprises along the way.

My intent this year is to complete another Trail Challenge. So far, I don't think they have had anyone do this challenge back to back.

I'm sure going to try!

The old photographs are about 1985.

The Police/Fire Station was built about the same time as the Liverpool Police force was established in 1836, and is almost certainly the one where Charles Dickens was made an honourary constable.

It was very close to the Royal Institution, which was one of the places where Dickens gave readings.

The statue of William Huskisson is now on the site of the police station, which is now a car park.

Note the same wall on both photos.

Let's hope his statue doesn't get knocked down by a car!

(Huskisson's main claim to fame is the fact that he was the first person to be killed by a train.)

Bridson's Buildings was renamed Duke's Terrace and is Liverpool's last surviving example of back-to-back housing.

"Cellar 3

Is but one room about 12x14. There are two beds in the room. 7 people live & sleep in this one room. We could learn nothing more a little girl only being

in charge.

Cellar 5

This cellar has 2 rooms 12x14 & 12x12 respectively. The rooms are dark and damp. The approach to the cellar from the street is not more than 2ft 6in wide and the top of the window is rather below the level of the street. The tenant has

been in it only a short time but complains of damp, rats, mice &c.

Cottage No 1

3 bed rooms a living room and the front room is used as a shop. The shop is about 12x13, living room 12x9. The bed rooms were described as being no larger. Eleven people live in this house; a man, his wife, 5 children and 4 lodgers.

Vintage film negative of an unidentified couple posed by a car. I thought they had a very distinctive look. Almost like maybe they were young, up & coming actors. He looks like he belongs in the 1930s but seller had this listed as a 1960s shot.
