We are living in dark times just now but hopefully there will be light in the not too distant future ❤️
I bought a used Sony A7 camera. I wanted to have the experience of shooting full frame.
This was the first shot that seemed ok to post!
I need to keep at it to get more used to using the camera with the 50mm lens, which is the only one I have right now... but watch this space!
I may just end up a gear head like some of my friends!!

Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) cub takes advantage of a piece of driftwood to achieve the same height as its mother. All the better to scan the spit of land off the coast of Kaktovik, for male Polar Bears or other intruders. The cub seems to be genuinely enjoying this pursuit.

Photo of the Birmingham Back to Backs National Trust property taken on one of my recent cycle commutes on a cold but bright morning this December - it's quite fun cycling through this tree!
Happy Christmas to my wonderful Flickr friends!
Wishing you a safe and peaceful Christmas and let's hope that 2021 is a better year for all.
@ Port Mann Bridge, Surrey
Last week, the New Port Mann Bridge opened to eastbound traffic.
At 65 meters wide, it's the world's widest long-span bridge according to the Guinness World Records.
This was taken at #McCarran #Airport...I was about to step in but then I saw these 2 guys (seemingly pretending not talking to each other) right in the center of my view :D

Tony and I stopped off en-route to Warrington on Tuesday (for our overnight stay before heading off to Tatton Park on Wednesday) for a pitstop at Erdigg - it was well worth the detour - lovely place.

I almost tripped over myself getting the camera when I saw Tessa and Sole together in their new beds for the first time.
That was yesterday. Today Tessa licked the top of Sole's head TWICE.
Was at the CNE and saw the snowird airshow. This was a display of one of many tricks performed that day.

If you drive south through the United States, through Florida, through the Florida Keys, to the end of the road at mile/marker zero... you end up at this house! Then, 90-miles of open-ocean,
and then Cuba! It's quite an amazing island! Come and visit!

The American alligator is a large crocodilian reptile endemic to the southeastern United States. Adult male American alligators measure 11 to 15 ft in length and can weigh up to 999 lbs. Females are smaller measuring around 9.8 ft. The American alligator inhabits freshwater wetlands such as marshes and cypress swamps from Texas to North Carolina. It is distinguished from the sympatric American crocodile by its broader snout, with overlapping jaws and darker coloration, and is less tolerant of saltwater but more tolerant of cooler climates than the American crocodile, which is found only in tropical climates.
Alligators are apex predators and consume fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Subsequent conservation efforts have allowed their numbers to increase and the species was removed from the endangered species list in 1987. The species is the official state reptile of three states: Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi U.S.A.

This watercolour represents back-to-back houses being demolished in Bordesely, Birmingham. In June 1953 the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was widely celebrated with the Union flag, some families painted a tribute on their houses and over the years these faded but remained visible.
Two rogues are seen raiding an empty house for any metal they can rip out, this happened mostly on Sundays when the unprotected site was open for kids to play (break windows) and thieves to steal from.
This picture in an earlier form has been seen before but on the advice of my art teacher it has been radically altered making it much brighter and more bold.

Since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the checkpoint’s rise as a prime tourist attraction in the German capital, the photos of Sgt. Harper and his Soviet counterpart on the other side have become as synonymous with the checkpoint as anything else in Cold War lore. But Harper wasn’t exactly the stereotypical Cold Warrior. He was a U.S. Army tuba player with the 298th Army Band in Berlin from 89-94 and never pulled guard duty at the checkpoint. He was just 22 when the photo was taken.
