Video taken of an active Osprey nest up the Jackson River, a distributary branch of the Apalachicola/Chattahoochee/Flint River System, in Franklin Co., Florida. The Osprey is a member of the accipiter family, the same family as other birds of prey such as hawks and eagles. It is a fish catching specialist. They often nest on man-made structures, or dead snags near open water. This nest, constructed on a channel marker, was located just North of "Pinhook" and Saul's Creek cutoff by Zach K., and documented for the Apalachicola OSPREY Program during the Deep Horizon Oil Gusher in July of 2010. In the backround, passing the nest, Zach caught a truly rare sight on the river; a large river barge that appeared to be empty, headed downstream in the intracoastal waterway toward the Apalachicola Bay. Back in the days when the Army Corp of Engineers did heavy dredging on this ACF river system, these large barges were a common sight. The large old dredge pile spill sites can still be seen towering like sand mountains, along the banks of the river.

Location is NOT within the NOAA 1990 Environmental Sensitivity Index Mapping for W. FL.

Rich colours with this pink rose on a backround of green leaves.

I was asked to do a pin-up set. I'd never done one before so I was a bit skeptical on the outcome of the pictures. Surprisingly, they turned out much better than I had originally intended.

Taken 09/09/24; Some backround about Thore Horve from Wikipedia; "When Nazi Germany attacked Norway in April 1940, setting off war, Lt. Cdr. Horve was the commander of HNoMS Draug.[1] During the night of 9 April, Draug was patrolling and watching shipping in the Karmsund. At about 0200hrs, Horve was notified that Oslofjord Fortress was engaging an unknown enemy force in the Oslofjord, leading to the crew being ordered to full combat stations. At 0400hrs, an unknown ship, flying no national flag, was observed sailing northwards through the Karmsund. The ship refused to stop after both flares and warning shots had been fired and Draug had to give chase and capture the vessel. After leading the unknown ship into Haugesund, its identity was found to be the 7,624 ton German vessel Main.[2] The two ships left Haugesund at about 0900hrs, but soon came under attack from a Luftwaffe bomber around 40 nautical miles (74 km) off the Norwegian coast. The bombs, aimed at the Main, missed but the German captain immediately scuttled his vessel and ordered his crew to abandon ship."
