Mount Rainier National Park
'Scuse me while I kiss this sky.
As usual, the light show was going on behind me as I toiled in futility at a comp facing the mountain.
After 3 days of mosquito Hell I was taking my revenge in a fit of bourbon-fueled energy, killing every insect within reach of my slapping hand-meats. Given the mosquito-fiesta and having to hike two miles in each direction just to get decent water I had had enough.
Then I got a clue, quickly composed and fired off three shots in the opposite direction of what I planned. This was the third and last exposure of the evening. I like how the lupines seem to have grown in symmetry with the rays of purple color that appear to have emanated from that lone stand of evergreens, awaiting a lone, insect-crazed backpacker/photographer with a brick of an overpriced piece of camera to come along and capture the moment .
I was camping at a lake all last week and while it wasn’t a backpacking trip, we were out in the wilderness just far enough to have spotty to nearly non-existent cell coverage so it really felt like we were roughing it by engaging in face-to-face communication with other humans! 😆
I took a few versions of this photo one evening and couldn’t decide which one I would post. I asked several of my fellow campers which if the three they preferred and most came up with this first image. None picked my favorite.
Check out all thedifferent versions and let me know which is your favorite.

The 06:15 'Backpacker' PeruRail service from Cusco San Pedro arrives at Aguas Calientes upper station behind Alco DL-535-B, 356. This approach had been fully rebuilt following severe flood damage that had swept away the bridges and infrastructure.

While my wife and I were hiking back from the "Hole-in-the-Wall” at Rialto Beach in Olympic National Park, Washington State; I came across a lone female backpacker with her teddy bear companion in tow. As the hike can go for many miles and camping is allowed, I guess a good friend is needed to listen to all those campfire stories.
The adventures that bear has had over a lifetime must be incredible, if you happen to see this photo, please share with me a few of your stories; I would love to hear them.
If you are the young woman in the photo, I would be happy to hear your side as well.
