San Gorgonio, CA backpacking trip, June 2012, South Fork Trail

Backpacking trip though Molas and Andrews Lake.

January 08 - Inspired by a $138 beautiful, sturdy bag I found at Macy's. The challenges were to find something to hold the straps to the bottom (used Quick Links from the hardware store), sturdy webbing for the straps (use something we already had - looks like old Army surplus), getting straps to move smoothly through loops at top (covered webbing with slick polyester), and to sew through the very thick layers of fabric. Lesson: don't use mock suede fabric - especially if it has a nice napped surface. Tough!!!

My daughter trying out the backpack for my shop.

I was fascinated by the extreme length of the sheets in our shabby hostel in Goussainville, Paris, France.

Happy to be at Rae Lakes - please note I finally figured out the perfect way to strap the solar panel on top of my backpack!

Tylt Power Backpack with 10,400mAh battery - great idea but hard to justify at $200. www.tylt.com/energi-backpack/
