The 3rd Kinnegad 5KM Road race was held in Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland at 20:00 on Wednesday 11th July 2012. This year's race built on the outstanding success of the two previous races. This year was no exception with another fantastic night of racing at 'the crossroads of Ireland'. Congratulations must go to Clive Mooney and his organisation team and Coralstown Kinnegad GAA club for the background work that makes a race like this such as success. The high level of local participation is a big success factor in the race.
The race is run in a clockwise loop starting and ending on the mainstreet of the town. The 5km race takes in a 3km stretch on the lovely country laneway locally known as Boreen Bradach. As a result the course is essentially traffic free. For those who remember Kinnegad in the days before the building of Motorways a traffic-free Kinnegad was something of a dream!
The very changeable evening meant it was a little bit tricky for lighting in the photographs - our set had a lot of blurs as the runners flew past. Apologies if we didn't capture you this time.

Rules of Composition
- this composition is allowed when the Background is plain with one color or a certain pattern
Why is this a good picture
- the subject is clearly focused on, and the background is plain and simple, doesn't have too much texture and it follows the rule of composition
How can this be improved
- if the photo was taken from a distance, a bit further will make the background stand out. Control the brightness on the right and left side of the photo
Glass with beer on the background of a wooden wall. Bacon slices and potato chips lie on the cutting board next to the glass.

Done for a dual class assignment. Teaming up with the graphic design class across the hall to do some potraits.
This was a 30 secod exposure where I painted the background with a speed light and some selected gels, then flashed the studio lights to expose for Justine.
Photo a Day for a Year - #235
This photograph shows how the same composition can have a different feel depending on the background against which it is shot. here i moved the camera only a few inches up and down to change the background, keeping the composition more or less constant.
