The original owner of this car was the great Chuck Berry, known as "The Father of Rock and Roll." Mr. Berry owned the car from 1989 until 1995. Since 2008, the vehicle has been in the possession of a collectible car enthusiast in Springfield, Illinois.

1989 was the final year of the first generation Lincoln Town Car, which was introduced as a separate model in the Lincoln product line in 1981. When the second generation Town Car made its debut in 1990, gone was the angular design seen on Lincoln models since 1970, which had been replaced by a slightly more rounded European-style look.

So I picked up another "Fast Fifty" lens. This time an older and funky Petri lens. The mount on this one is the later Petri breach style mount.

Unfortunately for me, Someone else got into this lens and messed it up a bit. And they lost all detent balls for the clicked aperture and clicked "Auto/Manual" switch at the back of the lens. Obviously they didn't have the right tools or know what they were doing with it. They scratched the name plate pretty badly, removed a lot of the black paint from the edges and slipped out of the two notches for removing the name plate. Looks like they used a screw driver and hit it on one side to turn the plate.

And then when reassembling the backend, they didn't get the aperture closer rod into the right spot. It was pretty screwed up.

Luckily, the worst they did was to loose those tiny ball bearings for the detents. The aperture ring was super loose and floppy and with no way to source those tiny metal balls, I just used some plastic glued to the inside edge of the aperture ring and the Auto/Manual ring to tighten them up and give them a bit of friction so they aren't flopping around.

Another upside is that the glass is very nice, no haze or mold, just a wee bit of dust that cleaned up nicely and the blades are completely clean and dry.

The lens now works and luckily the previous owner didn't totally destroy the lens to the point of it being useless.

The Griffith was based on a TVR Grantura frame, with servo brakes and wire wheelss and a 289 American Ford V8 with outputs up to 271bhp.

The 200 retains the BMC backend, the 400 has big bonnet bullges, wide rims, Kenlowe fans and a top speed of 150mph.

You are invited to stay and browse through my stream. Here's a quick introduction to my little corner of Flickr:

Automobile Photographs: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (excluding Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I've photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "countryside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!

Beyond Central Illinois: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

Barbers & Barber Shops: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!: Included topics range from man's first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.
