Built these last year as a white backdrop for photographing another MOC, and was hoping to keep them around for more shoots. But now I need the white parts, so I took a few photos before taking these apart.

Another test for backdrops. See my previous photo for test 1.
In this one, I painted the hills background with watered-down blue paint to decrease the intensity of the green and to give the illusion of depth (you know, like when mountains turn blue in the distance but are not up close?).
I used a piece of cotton for the clouds (real cotton from a cotton plant, because I didn't have any cotton balls accessible at the moment, that's why it looks so dirty and not as white as it ought to :P), and improved my lighting. I also removed the felt for the extending ground, and instead added a couple more baseplates with two trees on them to make the landscape larger.
This person could be seen hanging around in Brooklyn Bridge Park. This person also happens to be me.
excuse the crappy white balance...just showing a friend the backdrop. We painted the backdrop and are trying to figure out what needs adjusted.
I may be wrong (its been a long time since I've been to Universal), but this pond & backdrop may have been used on Jaws The Revenge.

Backdrops are an essential part of most photography, videography and even film making. For the studio photographer using the right backdrops to accentuate the costuming of your subject is critical. Having a wide variety of colors, patterns, and textures is paramount for any well equipped facility.
Backdrops come in a variety of textile materials, either Solid Color, Patterns, or Scenic designs.
There are a couple of things to look out for when buying a backdrop. A good quality backdrop should incorporate a sewn-in rod-loop along one edge so that the crossbar can be inserted, this is the ultimate mounting method. They should also have a sewed finish on all 4 sides, drastically minimizing the possibility of a snag or deterioration of the screen. I'd tried making a backdrop with this fancy gift wrap a few years ago, but the cardboard used then wasn't large enough to be practical. This version seems to be much better.

A backdrop of cogs on a cork board. The white balance is purposefully set incorrectly to get a warmer tone.
I wasw bored..so i made a shot of olive oil stirred around in a water pitcher and layered that with another picture of the sky..It still lacked so i took an image of my backdrop that i was taking down for the holidays and layered it into the mix. It was combined in Corel and desaturated with a yellowed film look and was added in Exposure 4. Olympus E3 with the Olympus 14-54mm lens for all three layers.
A picture taken for a DiDA upskilling task. A small white-ish candle on a piece of black card that had just been blown out. I put my camera in continuous shooting mode and chose the one with the most interesting smoke.
I bought blank A1 card in both black and white for macro stuff a while back, but have only used to white to date. I quite like the effect the black has, actually... I should use it more often in the future.
