- www.kevin-palmer.com - Devils Backbone was the only named peak in the area, so I explored it before leaving. But I couldn't climb to the very top because it was too steep and crumbly.

“Guts are a combination of confidence, courage, conviction, strength of character, stick-to-itiveness, pugnaciousness, backbone, and intestinal fortitude. They are mandatory for anyone who wants to get to and stay at the top.”
- D.A Benton
I finally stood up for myself.
Finally.
And I really don't care whether it was mature or not.
I really don't care about anything.
I did it - for myself!
And I feel good about it.
Sorry for another picture of my back, it just suits me today.
It's simple, to the point, and I like it.
I'm visiting everyone today - I've been slacking!

Backbone is a pixel art noir detective adventure. Step into the shoes of Howard Lotor, a raccoon private eye. Interrogate witnesses through branching dialogues inspired by classic CRPGs, sneak through diverse districts of a now walled-off dystopian Vancouver, sniff out clues, and choose which leads to follow.

The best clothing on the streets would not be complete without the Backbone shorts, made with high quality material, with prints that refer to modernity, feel like a true street gangster with the newest shorts from Mandrake Style.

On my walk I'd spotted these circles in the rock - I have no idea but the info on this place has dinosaurs walking bout.

Used modified Coffer developer with 20% less ferrous sulfate and 20% more alcohol.
So mad at myself for nicking that top piece of collodion off. The plate was thicker than normal glass. Really had to force the rear darkslide closed. It also interfered with sitting nicely in the wet/dry rack; which is how the nick happened.
Around San Marcos / Wimberly is a short drive that is called the Devil's Backbone. Not quite as magnificent as I remembered it from 12 years or so ago but still beautiful. Why is it we have to be protected from ourselves. Lookout was fenced with a very high chain link fence.
I stood on a picnic table to get above the majority of the fence but I just noticed there's a post in the lower right corner. This was an interesting stop. Many crosses and mementos of loved ones so I'm assuming it's a spot where many elect to scatter the ashes of loved ones. I'd pick a day when the wind was blowing into the canyon if it were me....

This is the glass roof of the Toronto Eaton Centre which runs between Bay St and Yonge St.
One night I had taken the PATH to get to the Hockey Hall of Fame for a work event, and that’s when I noticed this lovely piece of architecture. I added it to the ‘places I must visit with a camera’ list that I had been mentally storing during the work aspect of my trip, returning a few days later so that I could take a shot with the 8-15mm Fisheye lens. I really like the distortion that this lens adds to the scene.
It was a daytime visit and was very crowded, so though I’ve taken a few other shots of this area I feel this one was the easiest to exclude people, and therefore one of my favourites. A little B&W with colourization processing, followed by a slight split-toning produced this end result.

Jeju Island has become an increasingly popular tourist destination over the last couple of years. Tour buses crisscross the island, visiting some of the more popular attractions. Thankfully, there are still pockets of paradise devoid of crowds. This piece of coastline is one such gem.
. . . or, as the locals call it, the shortest tunnel in the world. Around 1900, the Beaver Dam Railway Company blasted and drilled the tunnel to provide railroad access from Damascus, VA into Shady Valley's rich manganese and iron ores and timber. Within the next twenty years, the area's privately-owned timber had been cut over twice and ravaged by a devastating fire. Minerals were virtually mined out using available techniques. In 1913, Congress enabled the federal government to acquire tracts of land for a newly-emerging eastern national forest system. Backbone Rock and 20,000 acres surrounding it were purchased to form part of Tennessee's national forest lands.
Beaver Dam railroad tracks were taken up in 1924 and the route was opened for automobiles. The tunnel was widened in 1930 for two-lane traffic.
