STOP 188
In the early 1900s when timber harvesting was a primary industry, a 20-foot long hole had to be blasted through rock to accommodate the railroad. Now known as “The Shortest Tunnel in the World,” after the blast and the track was laid, the train engine’s smoke stack could not pass through. The tunnel’s top had to be hand- chiseled to solve the problem. A recreation area offers camping, rappelling, and fish- ing as well as hiking with one trail leading across the top of the rock, and the other taking you to the 45-foot Backbone Falls.
I was taking out my new 16-35mm f/2.8 Mark II the other day. I am actually not used to wide angle lenses so this was a big learning experience for me. Very sharp lens. My feet was actually clumsily in most of the terrific shots I took.
Shot with the EOS 5D and 16-35mm f/2.8 Mark II.
