Yep! Back where I'm comfortable. Bridge fixed, reclaimed as 'my space' and safe to sit on and contemplate the day that was.Life does not get much better than this, for those that merely require a half-equilibrium.

actually, today was day 3 for my kiddos in their new school. It's been another hard transition for them, mostly trying to figure out the new rules. It has been especially hard on my youngest, who is a bit shy, but quite a personality when you get her going. She cried when she came home the first two days. Today she said it was a little better. We're hopeful.

E71 brought me back to Ilford, and is seen complete with AL code! This was actually from its second employment as it was new to SW for the 24. This third chapter of its career sees it nominally allocated for school work at River Road, though appearances on routes such as this, 101 and 147 are common. 27.10.19.

Happy New Year to all Flickr members.

Having failed to complete a Project 365 last year, I'm hoping to get back into using Flickr again in 2015... with no specific projects in mind.

Back & forth come concetto, probabilmente, è fastidioso, noioso e faticoso da seguire.

I'm putting together the complete 1985 Marty McFly costume for Halloween / Cosplay. I just scored the original Nike Bruin shoes to replace the Nike SB Blazer Low GT. I'm trying to get this as close to screen accurate as possible. Now I'm looking for the burnt orange vest. My current vest is dark red.

If you're looking for a comparison of the Nike Bruin vs Nike Blazer - they are pretty similar. The Blazer is passable if you're trying to put together a Back to the Future / Marty McFly costume for Cosplay or Halloween.

Endemic to Sri Lanka

After many unsuccessful attempts to see this endemic owl, finally got an action filled chance of observing it for two weekends back to back and making it more interesting and memorable this guy turned up with a few months old chick and offered a wonderful show.

Managed to observe feeding and hunting styles throughout the entire observing period and with the immature behavior of the juvenile it was easy to spot them despite their shady habitat.

Probably due to the fact of feeding for the juvenile they were very active in the day light just like other day time birds

There's two places I nearly always seem to end up at, or at least pass through, on railtour detail. One is Carlisle. The other? Bristol. And this year, I'm likely to see Temple Meads station rather more times than I'll see my own front door, or at least it seems that way.

The Devonian, the Zulu 48 malarkey, the Taffy Tug Two, all round that way. Hmmm. Good job you can get a vaguely decent shot there eh?

Here's a vaguely decent shot of D1015 pretending to be D1017 with 47773 acting as a train heating device type thing behind.

And yes, it's Temple Meads. Again.

Deep in the Tugela Gorge in South Africa, we got a good view back up to the second highest waterfall in the world, which we had hiked to the top of two-days prior.

The best way to get a sense of the scale of the world is to travel by foot. When in the Drakensberg Mountains we hiked along the Tugela river that orginates in the mountains you see in the background of this photo, tumbles over the cliff edge as Tugela Falls and then heads to the sea in Tugela Gorge where I am standing. Following the path of the river this way provided a strong sense of the scale of the landscape both in terms of the size of the river and in the surrounding climate and plant life.

When so many aspects of modern life serve to make our planet seem smaller and smaller, taking time out to travel long distances by foot and rough it out a bit makes it clear that there actually is a lot to experience, enjoy and protect on our planet.

... and photography!

Sorry I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks. I've been lacking inspiration for a while and the gloomy winter weather doesn't help. Torrential rain for weeks and relatively warm temperatures mean that, unlike most of the rest of the Northern Hemisphere, we don't even have any snow for some creative shots! And boy do we need some with those Winter Olympics starting here in just three weeks!!!

A car accident last week kept me busy with insurance paperwork, calls to the body shop, and visits to the doctor and chiropractor for whiplash suffered by myself and my three boys! Luckily we're all doing fine now.

Oh, and I had my first real photo shoot at the weekend for a local Day Spa needing shots to update and improve their website :-))

Anyway, thanks to those who sent emails and messages - I appreciate your concern. I'm back sparodically and will catch up with your streams in the coming days.

Holy cow! I'm like a boy. I love it. Though, the back was really not supposed to be all short, just the bottom half. Another argument in favor of DIY haircuts.
