This is the little bird I spoke of in the previous post.. You can tell it is still a baby because the cheek color is more orange than red and the feather development on the head.. I thought it was interesting that Dad had brought the Son out for Lunch... :-)
Three Guinea Pigs were born on the 5th of January much to our delight.
Sadly this little one didn't make it.

I’ve been checking this mantis ootheca (egg case), in a bush adjacent to our front porch, multiple times a day for weeks this spring. Today the babies finally hatched. I didn’t catch the very first one to come out, but only missed it by maybe ten minutes. I watched the mother mantis lay these eggs late last fall; I never get tired of seeing the new generation emerge.
This amazing evolutionary cross over has both lungs and gills. The one in the
foreground has gills extended.
This is a young ghost crab, no larger than maybe two centimetres!
I spotted it on a night walk along the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia with my family and three dogs.
I used my two extension tubes that I luckily brought to get this magnification and had to get really close.
Those blue eyes are simply incredible, don't you think?
A baby changes things;
They’ll never be the same;

The baby ducks are still coming to our bird feeders almost every day and are just about fully grown! Sadly, two of them didn’t make it, but it’s still so impressive that the mama has managed to keep the other ten safe.
My Mum made another masterpiece: an entire set for a little 2-month-old baby boy :-)

A recent visit to Beacon Hill Park in Victoria B.C. rewarded us with a bonus...lots of baby ducks have filled the park. These little siblings were snuggled together on the grass by the ponds edge. They didn't even object to me creeping up to take a few pictures.
I have been taking more of these Baby swim shots I showed you couple a weeks ago.
Now we are letting them be on their own in the water. It is a little bit tricky but the outcome is great I think.
SOME PEOPLE IRRITATE ME! A lady calls me one day... i missed her call so called her back later... she said she HAD an owl but someone else had already came and got it... so I just said okay.. still thinking how weird it was b/c I am the only rehabber in this area.. anyway... my phone has caller ID. so.. 4 days later someone calls.. saying her name is something different (but same phone number)and saying how she JUST NOW found a baby owl in her garage! We go get the baby and one look as you can see in the picture.. IS NOT GOOD! poor thing was cold as ice.... she said," We have been feeding him and hes eating good." I told her he was ice cold and explained to her how you CANNOT FEED A COLD ANIMAL!
Had she turned him over on day one he would have been fine! She knew she did something wrong. I brought him home and put him in the tub w/ heat but it was too late.. I never did get to see his pretty eyes.
