Baboon baby in the forests of the Lake Manyara, Tanzania
Better be watched by an animal than a nosy man.
The world is like a book and those, who do not travel, only read the first page.
If you only visit 2 continents in your lifeteime, visit Africa, twice.

I found this cute little sparrow chick with a funny hairdo in one of the Moscow parks ... he fell out of the nest.
What to do? How can I help this baby?
The fact is that in many birds (primarily small passerines), the chicks leave the nest as half-fledged fledglings. During this period of life, they still do not know how to fly, but they are already actively mastering the surrounding space. The parents did not abandon this chick, but simply flew away for food. Of course, as long as you stand next to the chick, they will not make themselves felt. Savvy birds can check after you leave that it was you considered there, they will find and kill the chick. Hence the conclusion: do not "save" everything that catches your eye. If the chick is dry, warm, active, well-feathered, then it does not need help.
And if the situation raises concerns? What to do first:
1. Quickly and carefully inspect the place where you found the chick, remember what it looks like. In some cases, this will help determine the type of bird.
2. Pick up the chick (with gloves) and bring it home as soon as possible.
3. On the way, inspect the chick for damage. If the bird has clearly visible fractures of the legs, wings, contusion (how to define it a little below), then you cannot do without a veterinarian. It is highly advisable to seek help from a veterinarian who specializes in the treatment of birds (unfortunately, such specialists are extremely rare). If there are no obvious signs of a fracture, and the general condition of the chick is satisfactory, just provide good conditions - nature will do its job and he will recover.
4. Provide the chick with food as soon as possible, it is even more important than equipping him with a house.
What did I do in this case? The kid is absolutely healthy and active, but I saw how a passerby man almost stepped on this chick and I brought a man from the administration of this park to this place, he promised to do everything necessary. I do not know anything about the fate of the bird, I have never visited this park again.
Back in the beginning of October I posted a photo of a late season baby cardinal. Well baby is growing up. Look at him now. Such a beauty.
These babies were making quite a sensation at the lake when they appeared several weeks ago. Since then, they've fledged.

The fires (California ) are terrible, I hope they are all put out soon .
One of the four baby fox... Backlit at sunset, photo was taken handhold...
Ilya told me in the comment from previous photo, he just came back from there, he learned from other visitors that the mom was killed by a coyote some time ago, very sad. Actually it is the dad who is taking care of the pups...
Blanket flowers are long lived and vibrant flowers. This year these plants have been exploding with new growth. Once I started looking at the various photographs I've taken during their stages of development, I decided that this little blossom was still quite a baby flower. Perhaps that is why gardening shops are called nurseries.
A baby oriole is sitting in the feeding dish staring at the jelly dish not quite sure how to access it. He saw mom and dad doing it but it seemed so much easier for them.
Unfortunately, baby bear did not follow mom into the greenbelt. I had to wait a few minutes for it to climb down.

A mid week visit to the beach. Apparently we both needed it. Sometimes I forget just how much she is like me!
Happy Friday all. TGIF, right?? :-)
Two baby bunnies arrived on my NC property during the spring of 2021. After some squabbling they became friends....matured, then realized they were of the opposite sex. The following spring they mated and this is a picture of their offspring several months later. During late summer the parents left, so the babies could learn to survive on their own.
Special photo - not one but two elephants with raised trunks. The upward-trunked elephant is considered a positive omen, and it is often associated with blessings and good luck to those who encounter it. Kruger National Park - as rain was approaching.
Babies act out when they're hungry, cold, tired. They do this for survival.

Waxwing birds are not true long-distance migrants, but wander erratically outside the breeding season and move south from their summer range in winter. In poor berry years huge numbers can erupt well beyond their normal range, often in flocks that on occasion number in the thousands.

My wife caught this one!

This little baby toad was one of many crossing a grassy path..I nearly stepped on them and just saw them in time. I've no idea where they were heading as the pool (opposite direction) was quite a distance away, down a steep hill. Quite a journey for these youngsters, leaving 'home' for the first time, I hope they all made it to their destination and survived, such a perilous journey to undertake - there is safety in numbers, I hope! :)
Enjoy this beautiful sunny Wednesday :)

I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to view and comment on my photos, it is very much appreciated.
Tina and the Puglets
The first day we observed the Hairy Woodpeckers at this nest site they were not bringing food into it. There were long intervals of the male and female coming in and out...I believe they may have still been incubating the eggs. This day they were both bringing small insects into the cavity...'baby time'!
Thank you for your visit and comments.
I still remember this photographic moment. Wandering through my flower garden on a warm day, I noticed movement in some dried fronds of sword ferns. Then I was filled with happiness when I realized I was seeing baby spiders scurrying around. Eventually I discovered that these were Araneus (European garden spider or crowned orb weaver). I'm just pleased that I had this close encounter.
Baby crowned orb weaver spiders travel in the most interesting way. Do check out this link for more information...

I am having babies fever and can't wait for the animal babies to start appearing. This is a baby Pika and while one probably would not see these until summer I can't wait for the spring babies either.
