Patrick moest even schakelen.

Technical shit!
If you don't know yet Mikey is off of Haro on FBM.
I really wish I shot this with a longer focal length but I couldn't get far enough away without losing part of the frame with my 50 mm, so I had to use my 18 to 55 kit lens. Not really digging the wide angle look but whatever.

There is relatively few graffiti in Tortosa, and I am glad. On a walk I discovered a few that I felt like capturing in a photo. .
This caught my eye:
"she is a poem- he is pure babbel"
I wonder if this is an original thought?
-----------
Hardly any run up for this but Mikey was still able to double peg this rail and hop over with style.
A bunch of cool stuff happend to me this week:
First of all I got asked to start help out Fat Tony doing the blogging on the Ridebmx.com page. I'm really stoked to be finally getting my foot in the door to the industry and start doing work.
Second of all I got my first photo Published in Ridebmx magazine as well which I am equally stoked about and hopefully it is a reoccurring thing.
Lastly, I did a whole interview/photos/video of Mikey for the Ride page as well check it out here:
bmx.transworld.net/1000094678/features/introducing-mikey-...
So yeah I'm definitly gonna start working really hard in the next few months to get better and better and can't wait to see what this year has in store for me.

Still a work in progress but It's getting there! I shot some photos of Mikey for the new Haro website so we decided to get one of him in the new shop. I like this photo because it pretty much shows what we do after we're done riding, go in the shop and hang out.

AND!!!!!!!!! So I made my decision about a new body and I went ahead and ordered a Nikon D300S. I decided to just spend all the money I had and get the best camera I could get that would last me the longest.

Trying to get more of an "epic" looking shot for this. Not at all saying this is epic but I just ment lighting wise I wanted a lot more shadows and for the dirt to be noticable. Really bummed about his face :(((((
Had to go into these sketchy bushes to get this too.
Strobist: Sunpak 444d 1on 1/2 power to the right and Sb50dx on 1/2 power to the right. Sunpak 444d on full power behind the jump.
Tried to get a little more creative than I usually do. This was really painful to shoot. Got stabbed like 100 times in a tree by a bunch of branches and I was literally hanging on a branch that should have snapped from me laying on it. Wish this came out a little more than I envisioned it. I tried to make the branches and sidewalk act as a frame around him but who knows how much I accomplished that or not.

Here's a photo I shot today behind Temecula's new BMX shop, The Secret. Pretty happy with it and kinda wanted to try getting a little panning going here.
Tell me what you think!
BUT I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE:
I've been saving up for a new camera body for a while now and I've pretty much dialed it in between two cameras, the Nikon D90 or the D300.
First of all the main reason I want a new body is for a better sensor (Mostly to be able to shoot at higher ISO with as minimal amount of noise as possible) And I also want to have faster rapid fire. Although these are the biggest things I'm in need of I also like the features on the newer cameras and overall want to pick the best camera for what I shoot (BMX and Portraits). I've been doing a lot of research and can't decide at the moment.
PLEASE IF YOU COULD DROP A COMMENT LEAVING YOUR OPINION ON WHAT I SHOULD GET AND WHY THAT'D BE AMAZING! THANKS!

Got a a lot of riding in yesterday. Rode two parks and some street as well with a bunch of people including Matt Colisch, Shawn Lee, Garret Nilson, Mikey Babbel, Eric Babbel, Nick Ramstad, Aaron Shultz and more. Really good day and got a bunch of shots.
This is at a park in Oceanside where he came from the smaller quarter and landed on the bigger one.
Couldn't decide between this and the barspin one so I posted them both.

For anyone who thinks I'm not shooting a lot anymore it is actually the complete opposite. I've been so productive over the past few months and am only going to start getting more busy hopefully.
About a month ago I went on the Haro Bikes road trip up to San Francisco. The rain prevented us from riding other than a couple indoor parks for the most part but I still had a great time with Dennis Enarson, Allan Cooke, Ryan Nyquist, Seth Klinger, Ronnie Napolitan, and Marcus Tooker. Good times for sure.
I've been doing a lot of shooting down in San Diego with basically everyone that lives down there and stayed down at Enarson's house to shoot with some dudes last weekend.
Hopefully I'm going up to LA this weekend to shoot some stuff with the Subrosa crew while they are filming the rest of GUTI as well. Brad Simms and David Grant are staying at my house a couple days to shoot as well.
What I'm trying to say is, SHOOTING HAS TAKEN OVER MY LIFE, and I'm loving it right now. I just haven't thought of posting much on here but I will when I get a chance and have photos I'm into that aren't getting used for anything.
BOOM.
We wanted to try getting some sunset silouhette shots today with this quarter we came into the posession of but once we got to the spot we decided it wouldn't look good. So I took the easy way out and set up my flashes like always and snapped some shots. This is one of many tricks Mikey threw down on this thing including a huge boost on it in which I might post later.
This is practically straight out of the camera other than a tad bit of sharpening and level adjustments as well as cropping it.
I personally think this is one of my best photos yet. Let me know what you think.

Anyone going to the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach next week? I'll be shooting the Nike 6.0 HB Pro for Transworld there. Hit me up if you're down there!
I also just got my slide film developed but haven't gotten a chance to pick it up from the lab because I'm out of town until sunday. Should be up on monday.
Strobist: Forgot exactly but I'm pretty sure it was two Quantum T2's on either side on 1/8 power.

This is definitley one of those tricks that there was no possible way to capture with only one photo (or even a sequence) how crazy it was. Your gonna have to watch the clip sometime in an edit or something but he basically from the street bump jumped over the side walk over the railing on this freeway over pass and down into this steep bank going right onto the 15 freeway. Not a good photo either but I was amazed by the trick.

You gotta: View On Black
Belgian postcard by Huis Ern. Thill, Brussel (Brussels). Photo: Jan Vanderheyden-Film.
René Bertal (1898-1962) was a Belgian actor who acted in Flemish folk films of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
René Bertal was born in 1898 in Antwerpen (Antwerp), Belgium as René Hubert Boisjelot. He made his debut as a chansonnier and in 1922 joined the Operetta Theater and the Folies Bergère in Brussels. Later he appeared at the Prado and Lunatheaters in Antwerp. In 1938 he joined the theatre company of J. Diels as an actor and in 1939 of the prominent stage company KNS (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schouwburg) in Antwerp. Bertal achieved great success in modest roles due to his outspoken comic talent. He made his film debut in the comedy La gloire du régiment/The Glory of the Regiment (1937). He played the lead role as a soldier who decides to go over the wall with a group of friends to participate in a cycling race. The film was directed by German emigré actor Siegfried Arno, who later moved to Hollywood where he became known as Sig Arno. He next appeared in the short comedy Mr. Dingemans en Mme. Babbel krijgen bezoek van den buiten/Mr. Dingemans and Mrs. Babbel are visited by a farmer (Jan Vanderheyden, 1942), an episode of a series of short films about Mr. Dingemans (Charles Janssens) and Mrs. Babbel (Co Flower). Bertal then played the title role in the comedy Antoon, de flierefluiter/Anton, the Village Casanova (Jan Vanderheyden, 1942) with Nand Buyl. After this feature, he appeared again in two shorts, the escapist musical short film Muziek is schoon/Music is beautiful (Jan Vanderheyden, 1943), and Een zondags uitstapje/ A Trip on Sunday (Jan Vanderheyden, 1943). The script of these Jan Vanderheyden-Film productions were again written by Edith Kiel.
After the war, René Bertal appeared in a new series of folk films. The first was Schipperskwartier/The Bargee District (Edith Kiel, 1953), again with Charles Janssens and Co Flower. Then followed the comedies 't Is wreed in de wereld/It's a cruel world (Joris Diels, 1954), and Mijn man doet dat niet/My husband doesn't do that (Edith Kiel, 1956) with Robert Marcel and Nand Buyl. The next year, he appeared on Flemish television in the TV Movie Muiterij op de Caine/Mutiny on the Caine (Maurits Balfoort, 1957). His final film was Rendez-vous in het paradijs/Rendez-Vous in Paradise (Edith Kiel, 1957) with Nand Buyl and Robert Marcel. From then on he focused on the stage and television. He had success in revues, but he was also again a member of the KNS. Later TV films include Ik doodde de graaf/I Killed the Count (Maurits Balfoort, 1959) with Julien Schoenaerts, the comedy Slissen en Cesar/Slissen and Cesar (Jos Gevers, 1960), and Een gevaarlijk mens/A dangerous human (Tone Brulin, 1961). His final screen appearance was in the TV Movie Jefta (Jack Dixon, 1962), based on the play by Joost van den Vondel. René Bertal died in 1962 in Antwerpen. He was 64.

I'm pretty stoked on this. One reason is the fact that there is a firetruck in the background. Another is that I've been struggling at shoot during the day with strobes but this one came out pretty good for me I'd say. Let me know your thoughts on it.

I'm also heading up with Fat Tony from ridebmx.com to San Jose for Ryan Nyquist's Warriors of Wood. Should be a good time. Let me know if you're up there and we'll meet up!
Check it out and View On White
You should view this in large to get the full effect. This is wierd because it looks blurry on Flickr (I mean Mikey does) but in photoshop it looks really sharp. Usually flickr over sharpens things but whatever.
Tried to get a pan effect on this. Wanna start doing this more often because I like the look of it a lot.
Just messing around with my new 50 mm :)
