We were driving into town on Saturday and came across this calf in the middle of the road.
He's only a few days old and still has the left overs of his umbilical cord.
After much searching and door knocking Mum & Calf were happily reunited.
Armoured Plated Back!... Beetles are generally characterised by a particularly hard exoskeleton and hard forewings (elytra). The beetle's exoskeleton is made up of numerous plates called sclerites, separated by thin sutures. This design creates the armoured defences of the beetle while maintaining flexibility.

Another boathouse along the Schukill river in Philadelphia. These are houses that are owned by various clubs. They serve as a meeting place for scullers, before and after races as well as socially. There are many in a row, so the area has become know locally (and aptly) as Boathouse Row.
This house has the clubs "shield" over the door. Most have some sort of identity there as well.
In the evenings the rear of ALL of the houses are trimmed entirely with white lights, making it quite a spectacular view from across the river. You can see the backs of these wonderful structures earlier in this series.
Elegant name...Also known as the Common Lime Butterfly, it is a common and widespread Swallowtail butterfly. It gets its name from its host plants which are usually citrus species such as the cultivated lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies it does not have a prominent tail.

Bronchocela cristatella is a stunning species, the Green Crested Lizard inhabits primary and secondary forest. The body colour is bright green, sometimes with a bluish tinge on the head. When threatened the body colour can become more brown. Males have an attractive neck crest. The tail makes up over 75 percent of its total length.

My Iban's cultural heritage...This primitive back-strap loom (seen in the centre photo) requires little effort in setting up. There is no rigid framework thus; the warp beam can be set up wherever there are two parallel upright poles. Often women are seen working at this weaving contraption.
Kept as family heirlooms, these patterns are passed from mother to daughter. The Iban women infuse much of their creativity in their weaving and decorative style. Although difficult to interpret, the motifs and colouring are usually inspired by the environment and reveal a lot about the Iban's rituals and beliefs. While most motifs are visual representations of animals, plants and even daily activities, others are more complex and abstract. Intricate patterns on the pua are often traditional and hereditary.
