It's county fair season and the original idea was to have mac pose with something from the fair but i failed to find the appropriate prop. I found this plastic fire hat at a game at the carnival part, and the carny told me it didn't belong to anyone, so I took it. My boyfriend suggested Mac pose with a bucket. I couldn't figure out what on earth we was talking about, but duh, it's the old timey fire fighting tool. Of course, our bucket is plastic, and the red-cross is actually orange duct tape, but I figure it fits perfectly with the pit bull firefighter, the garden hose, and a plastic hat.

No one can say he looks depressed in this shot- look at that tail and his longing eyes at my photo assistant's cheese!!

Note: I absolutely can't believe this year is half over. I'm sad about this- it's the all-star break coming up, so baseball season is also half over, which we all know means depression. It means winter is coming up, and it means I *really* need to find a job.

A frame-by-frame review showed no meteors. The cluster of horizontal streaks before dawn all appear to be Iridium flares.

Explore #168 by the time I noticed

My 250th to make Explore (woohoo 250)

I was excited to see some airglow in my first frame last night. Christmas please!

I made two time lapses overnight and this one caught a couple brief meteors. Everything you see right before dawn is a satellite, however

The boy's turn again this week! His muscles, which he keeps flexing (although his face is usually more contorted with effort!) are like knots on cotton!

I'm very happy that New Mexico has begun processing same-sex marriage license applications. I was down at the Blue Heron Brewing Co. brewery earlier today when a burst of rain let out while the sun was shining and everyone ran for the porch to watch the rainbow we knew was outside. I snapped this one closer to home.

A few months ago I had a conversation in that brewery with some state legislative staff. We talked about a couple bills I knew were pending including one that would give same-sex couples the right to marry. I inquired whether there was any legal definition of "man" or "woman" in New Mexico law. This sparked an idea that one said needed legal research and she planned to follow up on it.

A couple weeks later there was an announcement in Santa Fe that the state law didn't ever restrict same-sex marriage to begin with, and it appeared to already be legal for gay and lesbian couples to marry. Since then some judges have upheld this ruling and gay and lesbian couples have married.

I don't know for a fact that I helped the cause along, but I sure hope so. Either way, it's a great time for equality and I support the rights of all my friends, family and neighbors to marry the person they love.

My new XOAR PJP-T-L-INS props on my DJI Inspire 1 drone, which I affectionately call "RRD-1."

These props make a noticeable difference in responsiveness to control inputs in all axis, the drone seems more stable in flight and when hovering due to being 100% perfectly balanced by XOAR prior to shipping, and I believe XOAR's claims of increasing efficiencies of the four motors, due to the fact the CW/CCW pairs have the same pitch and same weight, the maximum tolerance of weight difference for each pair is 0.5 gram; this guarantees consistent performance - same torque is produced by the motors on each pair of opposite arms.

The superior strength reduces flexing of the tips in flight which noticeably lowers prop noise and vibration to yield a stable, responsive, smooth, accurate and quieter flight compare to the stock DJI Plastic Props (unbalanced) when flying with the original X3 or the New Zenmuse X5 Camera.

So Gabby the awesomesauce owner of My Funky Camera found some cupcake ribbon and made ONE OF KIND wristlets!!!! She teased me on Facebook with them then said she'd send 'em. I totally only half read email and stuff and thought wow I wonder if it'll be pink or blue.

They both showed up. I peed myself a little from giddyness. She's totally the cream in my twinkie. She wrote on the back of her card "I hope you like them". Like!?! Oh Gabby you're soooo funny, like. Ha! I want to divorce Mr. Bacon and marry THEM!!!

Y'all go and check out her awesome camera staps, wristlets and jotters. I'll send you a cupcake tattoo if you do :0)

The apparent sprites are due east in this photo. There's very little beyond those mountains that could contribute light pollution and be confused for sprites.

For those about to rock, Prime salutes you.

Our Saturday mornings go something like this: wake up, shower, get dressed and eat, or wake up, eat, shower and get dressed. I'd like to lounge around in my jammies a bit while sipping a cup of coffee, but the toddler always has other plans.

As the Doodle nears two years of age, she's getting more and more self-sufficient. There are the tasks she can now do for herself with little to no assistance or guidance, and then there are tasks that she'd like to do on her own, but just isn't capable of doing so yet. That's when she calls out, "Help please!"

The Doodle has always been a fan of picking out her outfits. Her very first self-selected and styled outfit included a white onesie, pink tutu, and swim diaper cover tied around her neck. She thought she looked awesome, and she looked so ridiculously awesome you couldn't help but to break out in a grin.

Now that she can access all of her clothes, the Doodle selects her clothes on a daily basis. Sometimes, we'll pull out two things and give her a choice. Other times we'll explain why a certain outfit - a swimsuit for example - isn't the best choice for the activities we have planned that day and we'll steer her towards something else. And sometimes we'll walk into her room and she's already working on getting dressed.

It's pretty handy that the Doodle can dress her lower half on her own now. Potty training led to learning how to push down our pants and pull them up, and then one day she just figured out how to put her legs in her pants all by herself.

Good morning red skinny jeans! A perfect choice at 7:30 am on this sunny winter day.
