Around the 6 second mark to the right of the tree, a meteor burns up and leaves a persistent ion train that degrades. As so often happens, the upload transcoding washes it out in the noise. What looks great on my desktop is less so here.
Also there's some nice airglow in this, red and green.
I had SO much fun today at Keiko Morigi's opening at the Avatrait Gallery! Her pieces bleeeew me away, and I thought I was prepare for the awesomeness but I was left speechless. Well... I did manage to crack some poop jokes and molest a few people here and there, but that's it really :)

This was taken with my full spectrum camera. I aimed directly at the moon and set a custom white balance that worked out pretty nicely (minor adjustments to levels).
After an eight year love affair, seven years of which were really good for me, Otto and I have decided to break up with our red dining room. It would seem as if there is no end in sight to my nesting spree, so on a Saturday night at 9pm I began to paint the dining room ceiling.
I remember a time when I couldn't fathom doing something as mundane as painting on a Saturday night. Now it's a meditative solo activity that immediately causes everyone in the house to disperse to their own rooms.
The next morning when I decided to tackle the red with a coat of primer, I had two helpers.
While painting is a relatively inexpensive way to freshen up your space, paint can be quite expensive. Particularly when you're particular about the colours. We decided to give Benjamin Moore another shot (I love the colour palate, but the Natura line was awful to paint my entrance hallway with...it dripped and actually rubbed off in one place with grimy kid hands and all of the other traffic the entrance way gets). The colours we fell in love with could only be mixed with the highest end - and most expensive - paint.
I thought that in the interest of being thrifty, that I'd save myself a few coats of expensive paint, and save myself a few dollars by buying a cheap primer.
It was late Saturday afternoon at Canadian Tire. There was the $50 gallons of paint, then $40 gallons of paint, and a few gems at the $30 and $20 price point. I decided for once that I'd be thrifty and buy the $20 gallon of paint. My mother-in-law had mentioned a brand name that she said she liked and I thought it matched with some of the cans on the shelf. I questioned the price point, I got excited about saving $20 bucks, and tossed a can in the cart.
But in my hesitation about going for the cheapest product, the Doodle got fussy, was kicking her boots off, wanting to get out of the cart, said she had to go to the bathroom, I failed to double check if the word primer was on the can I picked off the shelf. Because the can I selected and opened and let the kids and I paint the dining room with wasn't primer. It was some sort of really sticky glue paint that went on white and dried clear.
Yes, that's right. After priming our dining room with an hour or so of time, effort and sweat (and of course, having a fun/moderately stressful time letting Bubaloo and the Doodle help - thank goodness latex peels of of hardwood), there was nothing to show. The red was as red as ever, and the "paint" we applied to the walls was non-existent.
Otto went back to the store, explained my dilemma to the sales clerk, and came home with a can of proper primer.
It was $40. And my can 0f non-primer primer cost $20. It now pretty clear that I should have just forked out for the medium or expensive stuff in the first place.

Okay, this is part of the story of rebuilding society so, here goes nothing...
"Alright, you've probably at least heard about a type of rouge "Chicken Walker" by now. The good news is, if you can see this, it means you are still alive. The bad news is, well, pretty much everything else. If you have been feeling depressed lately, it is highly advised that you do not continue watching the program. Alright, so you probably have been wondering where the he** this beast came from. Stay tuned to find out. Just kidding, here you go. Several companies had been experimenting with self-controlled mechanical walkers. They were pretty much built the same way as human controlled, except these were controlled by an extremely high tech artificial "brain" that was designed to assess risks and act accordingly. During a test, the "brain" assessed that its creators were risks to it, and killed them all. Then it escaped. It was actually a police officer Dan Higgins that first came across it. He radioed in when he saw it moving towards him. As it moved closer, he pulled out a 9mm pistol on it, but stayed on the radio. The "brain" immediately assessed "risk" and blew him to bits with one of its six “smart" (automatically controlled, also called Fire and Forget) missiles. The radio was still on, but the officer was surely dead. The local police station immediately new it had a huge problem on their hand, one that they were by no means capable dealing with and immediately requested military assistance. Two Humvee jeeps were immediately dispatched, but both were quickly eliminated with its 37.64x12mm cannon. From there on, the "brain" considered all humans as a risk, and now kills everybody on sight. This concludes our, very solemn newscast for tonight. Our thought and prayers to everybody out there with dead our injured loved ones.

My new XOAR PJP-T-L-INS props on my DJI Inspire 1 drone, which I affectionately call "RRD-1."
These props make a noticeable difference in responsiveness to control inputs in all axis, the drone seems more stable in flight and when hovering due to being 100% perfectly balanced by XOAR prior to shipping, and I believe XOAR's claims of increasing efficiencies of the four motors, due to the fact the CW/CCW pairs have the same pitch and same weight, the maximum tolerance of weight difference for each pair is 0.5 gram; this guarantees consistent performance - same torque is produced by the motors on each pair of opposite arms.
The superior strength reduces flexing of the tips in flight which noticeably lowers prop noise and vibration to yield a stable, responsive, smooth, accurate and quieter flight compare to the stock DJI Plastic Props (unbalanced) when flying with the original X3 or the New Zenmuse X5 Camera.
I captured two Eta Aquarii this morning, at 4:45-4:46am in two separate frames from my time lapse that are merged together here to better show the radiant, in the "water jar" asterism. The moon is a waning crescent, but to expose for stars requires overexposing the moon which washes out the earthshine portion.
This is the time lapse footage of the Perseid meteors from my unmodified Sony NEX-5R. I published the time lapse from the modified camera a few days ago.
