Aiyee! I love these three doors! I love this green room! It's so pretty ;___;
I uh.. just framed this one a different way.. I couldn't decide which of the three was best so I posted them all, lucky you! :P
I'm sure in the hands of a competent photographer, you would think this was awesomesauce. I did what I could, though.

Just tried it a different way with the fourth door in the shot.

And that notebook? It's that weird 1980's 3-D stuff. I have no idea what it's called, but I do remember that my second grade teacher, Miss Hanks, gave out a series of prizes for the number of books you read as the semester progressed, and that I read 100 books and got a ruler made of this stuff. When you tilted it up and down, it looked as though an airplane flew across a sky of moving clouds. I have never been happier.
I really love this guy and I think he is my favorite fig I have ever made. Also most of my older figs for rebuilding society are now going to be merc's cause I realized that that is more what they look like.
From Wiki: "With rare exceptions, the larvae are predatory while the adults may be vegetarians or predators in addition to scavenging. Many species are able to produce sounds." :)
Another thing I just learned from Wiki is that "larva is Latin for 'ghost.'" Awesomesauce. :D
Unfortunately, "larvig" is Swedish for "silly." :|

This entire week vibrated with emotions leading up to our baby's first birthday.
I've never been one for birthday parties and cake, for lots of festivities and celebrations. But there was something about a first birthday, MY baby's first birthday, that had me inspired.
While the party itself was lovely with family and friends, a cake smash and a photobooth with our guests, the magical part of the Doodle turning one was the eve of her birthday. It was re-living the early labour signs, how I went into labour and realized that I was indeed going to have a baby. It was the magic of mentally re-living my homebirth moment by moment a year later.
I spent much of the week leading up to the Doodle's birthday musing on what I was doing that exact moment one year ago. It was a very private and in my own head exploration which very much mirrored the way my body chose to labour.
My baby is one and that's a big milestone for her, for me, and for our entire family. It was her birthday. But the fact that it was her birth day that was most meaningful to me caught me by surprise. That it was the process of birthing her that was so special to me.
We created a baby, I gave birth to this baby, and for the past year we've been her entire world. She's on this planet because we created her. But she's her very own firery, strong-willed, yet shy, little being. She's strong, yet sensitive. She's absolutely captured every available inch of my heart.
I birthed you Doodle. And in birthing you, you gave me the most most transformative day of my life thus far.
Processed with brighten and tone, and awesomesauce (Fresh Wonderland 2).
Kathryn Williams live at Purcell Room, Southbank. This was such a lovely relaxing show in such an amazing and intimate venue. Kathryn was very engaging with the audience and provided a lot of jokes and anecdotes throughout the tuning sessions (and joked at Neill that he was intentionally tuning longer than needed to make her do more vamping). She showcased a lot of new songs from her new album The Quickening as well as play a few oldies.

Today, FGR asked us to showcase a contact. As I perused my faves list, it was clear that one contact eclipsed the others in terms of favoritism. Obviously, I think that catklein is awesome.
I started with an arbitrary 4x5 matrix, thinking there was no way I could fill it up. Ha! I started at my oldest fave, and didn't get any newer than page 5 before it was filled. I could probably add another 20 and still not have displayed all the faves I have of her work. And her, because her photos depict her. I'm convinced. She is genuine, honest in her work, and pure awesomesauce.
Go visit her stream, stalk her, and be prepared to fave something on a damn daily basis.

these are rachel and farisia.
rachel i have known for a couple of years,
back when she was teensy
and shy.
now she's got her own cell phone
(a sure sign that she's growing up)
and she talks nonstop.
haha.
she shared her pancakes with me yesterday
and they had blueberries in them.
farisia is awesome.
she's from singapore,
& that's awesomesauce.
we call her fart,
because her last name starts with a "t"
and the first three letters of her name are "far".
she doesn't actually smell, though.
she's always smiling
and laughing
and aww-ing.
awww.

The rocks were done in encrusted embroidery style then painted over. The fish were crocheted in miniature, the lilies are mini tissue pompoms painted with watercolors. the grass is cross stitch floss and the lily pads are watercolor painted fabric.
All together the project took about three weeks, though I took many breaks to make other things and uncross my eyes from time to time.
