Here's the story...
My mother is the green thumb in our family but my father is the one with a love for cactus. So he had her plant one in the front yard.
Apparently getting flowers like this one is a bit like playing roulette. Sometimes you get lucky and most of the time you don't. The tale is even more tragic though. This beautiful flower only lives 24-48 hours. After that, it just wilts, dies, and falls off. Talk about sad. One year she said she had four that were bigger than this one. Amazing! (this one was huge)
Given it's temporal temperament, I felt obliged to take a few shots to remember it in all its glory.
I got these dirt cheap at Salvation Army.There was a buy one get one sale on books and also get a free book with purchase. I think i got them for like two bucks. I just love thrift store finds!
This is a rather rare sunset shot. After several vacations in Boracay, this shot is the most fascinating - the Orange Explosion made this one awesome.
