Strongback
Year Created: 2006
Trash collected from: Iowa and English Rivers
What is it?
Aptly named Strongback (a "strongback" is a form from which canoes are built) this sculpture pays homage to hundreds of volunteers who used dozens of canoes to haul hundreds of tons of trash from Iowa rivers. Rebar canoes built from strongback forms can be found on the sculpture, with a paddle blade emerging from the center. Work gloves cast in aluminum depict the index, middle, and ring fingers in the shape of a "W," which is the American Sign Language word for "water."

A traffic awareness drive was observed by Udgam School from November 6th to 20th. It began with taking the Preschool students for a visit to Traffic Park where they learnt all the rules and regulations related to traffic and also rode bicycles in keeping with the rules and signals.
The senior school students took this campaign to a different level by involving common public in the drive. Students of Class 10 formed a human chain and carried placards and chanted slogans that were related to traffic awareness. They stopped cars on the road in front of the Thaltej School and spoke to people about traffic rules and regulations which even encompassed ‘misuse of mobile phones during driving’, ‘lack of safety belts’, ’not wearing helmets’ and other issues. They even took a pledge to abide by traffic rules and create traffic awareness. In addition students ofClass 9 and 11 made powerpoint presentations and demonstrated to other classes about the importance of following traffic rules.

I was previously not aware of any natural bridges in the Georgia piedmont physiographic province. It is not spectacular but it is a very interesting geologic feature. I assume it is a remaining piece of an exfoliation sheet in the Ordovician age Lithonia Gneiss. It is attached at each end. For more information: arabiaalliance.org/themes/granite-technology/
April 25. African band (didn't catch their name - but enjoyable!) in front of American Red Cross Natl Headquarters.
This exhibit sure brought awareness to colon cancer. The EnemaMan was a wee bit overkill IMHO and surely they did not need miniature EnemaMan figures, but they did. Most of the children running through the Super Colon had no idea what it was just a fun tunnel to run through.
In late November 2015, an “unprecedented deployment” of instruments from the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) were installed at McMurdo Station for the ARM West Antarctic Radiation Experiment (AWARE) field campaign. These data will be used by scientists to understand how clouds affect melting glaciers.

I arrived in Auckland the day before, and I spent a few hours in the daylight walking through and around the Central Business District. As I had just purchased a new tripod in Sydney, I was looking forward to taking a few night-time photos of Auckland's CBD skyline.
The Sky Tower is illuminated in varying colours at different times of the year; `pink' October was for breast-cancer awareness month.

The AWARE Handle is a radiator handle that makes it more comfortable for the hand to lower the temperature than to increase it. It also visualizes the current state of the handle with help of info- graphics that does not only use the traditional numbers (1-4) but icons angled towards informing about different consequences resulting from the different states of the handle.

I made a big grown up decision today. I'm not quitting my job. I have job-ADD. As a result, change jobs quite frequently, and need to stop that awful behavior.
I work at a center that provides 1:1 ABA therapy to children diagnosed on the Autism (www.autism-society.org/site/PageServer )spectrum. It's hard, challenging, and more days then not end up wondering why I do what I do.
This picture will serve to remind me these children are my heart. I do what I do for them, for all the surprises and improvements that happen in their lives.
**It seems to be Autism Awareness time of the year. The Columbus Walk for Autism is Sunday, if anyone is interested in joining a team, I can help you get with Nationwide Children's Hospital or Step by Step Academy...**
