Looking at the southeast part of the square, 1989. Note the snow on the ground and the gradually clearing sky. From left to right: T&Sons (now Jupiter House), the Locust Street Grill (now Hooligan's), the site of the old Williams Store (now a foot doctor's), the 1913 Denton county National Bank Building (now an office building), the First State Bank (now Wells Fargo), the First Methodist Church (with its original facade), South Elm Street, and Craven;'s Dry Goods (now the Abbey and a comics and games shop). The siding on the Wells Fargo buildings was originally made up of panels raised by crane. There used to be a painting of this in the First State Bank coffee room, but I don't know what happened to it. This particular building is an expansion of the original, and it was originally supposed to be part of a larger complex that was never built.

This shot of the 1982 Fry Street Fair is looking north-northeast from the middle of Fry Street. Note Jim's Diner in the background. This eatery was pure retro. Anyone from 1945 would have been at home there. The food was good, and the people were nice.

Funny to me how that of all the FP I've had, that it's usually the ones that I just DO.

Don't stress on the details.

Like the heels of my socks being funky. (thanks Ad for pointing that out...)

Obviously I'm not hell bent on perfection these days. ;-)

But always a pleasant surprise to wakup to FP and 100+ comments. *grin*

Thanks to all to commented and faved. :) You guys rock!

Outside the Connection on Fry Street at the 1982 Fry Street Fair. Note the beer cans at right. The red, white, and blue ones are Budweiser, and the yellow one is Coors.

Off focus but I still liked it:)

The Fry Street fair, 1982. I think the camera is looking west towards the Sammy House. I probably took this shot just to enjoy the variety of people at the Fry Street Fair.

167/365 I thought we escaped all damages from last nights storms, just a few branches here and there. Then I noticed the top of one of my birch trees, that will need to be addressed...

this face can get away with anything!

NOT REALLY!

2 things:

1. We're really pregnant! Well, my wife is, anyway.

2. This image was taken for a photo contest on a web forum with the theme "Aw, that sucks!" - as in, a creative shot of something [supposedly] bad happening.

The photo and our real-life news have nothing in common, other than the fact that we had a pregnancy test handy that gave me some inspiration :)

Thanks to Jess for helping out and being a good sport!

Strobist info: SB-800 on a stand firing into a small white shoot-thru umbrella (light stand in the bathtub). Triggered via CLS on the D700 - blocked by my palm so it didn't blow out the foreground. I had a hard time getting the light where I wanted because our bathroom is so tiny, and I didn't have much time.
