Sorry, Flickr. Aviary is nothing like Picnik, and offers next to nothing in the way of creative tools to edit pics. You can't straighten shots, add textures, have a choice of texts...nothing. This is terribly disappointing!
Since the straighten feature will be gone, I guess that will be the brunt of my editing until Picnik is gone completely. It's already off here, which I thought was pretty lame, but at least it's accessible online. There is just a lot more work to do to go back and forth, saving pics from here to my work computer and then deleting them after uploading them back on here. What a pain!
It would have been nice if they at least connected us to Ipiccy. It's not quite as good as Picnik, but there's much more on there than Aviary has.
My life just got a whole lot more complicated! Now I will have to go back and forth between sites and won't have the ability to do the more artistic stuff I'm used to. This is such a let down for me, and I'm sure many other people here on Flickr. Not everyone on here is a traditional photographer. Many artists use photography as an extension of their art. Most of us would be willing to pay for access to something better!
So, what is the reaction out there from the rest of you folks? Am I the only one who hates this?
Quilt top made from mostly Joel Dewberry Aviary fabric in pink and green with a few solid colors, white ric-rac and two Storybook fabrics thrown in the mix.
Giant fruit bats at the National Aviary. Yes, they are not birds but neither was the two-toed sloth. Developing ecosystems instead of cages.
Sadly no hungry bird around the aviary who needs some food... Maybe next time!

My first finished quilting project! Pieced, sandwiched, quilted, and bound! It's small - I think I trimmed it down to about 5 1/2" after quiltling. Improv pieced. Just grabbed some FMF and solid scraps and went for it. The binding is some light green wood grain from Joel dewberry Aviary.
I didn't join the Mug Rug swap this time but hopefully there will be another round. Thanks to everyone from the group for their inspiration and ideas!
